England Mini popping noise suddenly very frequent

Hi I know that the exhaust popping is normal but ever since I had my mini serviced It's popping awfully frequently, even when I'm pulling away without much rev.. as soon as I change gear it pops..
it will pop almost every time I put my foot down and change gear?! It even popped in third gear the other day.

do you think the ppl that serviced it put too rich oil in it or something? The car runs fine, but just curious why its popping so much.

thanks

Take it to a village garage... now it pops all the time!

I find it's all in the fuel you use. Plenty of pops with sainsburys 97 super.

I don't really have a Sainsburys near me so that's no good. I've heard you mention theirs before mate. I tend to use Tesco's momentum and/or V Power. Get a few pops and bangs once in a blue moon but that's it really.

Really? I haven't noticed any issues. But then again that is all I have used, so it might be I have nothing really to compare it to.

What issues did it cause for you?

Hesitation, rough running. Just didn't get on with it.

I have noticed a bit of what might be hesitation recently, so I might try some other fuel and see how if it clears up. Might save me some money as well :tr:

Just don't use any 95 mate. Momentum is a bit pants as its just 97 with a load of additives topped up.

I read that a load of tuned VXR engines went pop on the stuff and a few remappers really push people away from the stuff

I noticed the car needs to be nicely warmed up

Sport button helps

I have got it to pop in every gear up to 5th

It was going mental when i did the EVO Run

If you build the revs to 3,000 rpm then put the clutch in and change slowly it will do it all the way into 5th gear

My JCW has done a fair few miles on it at 28,000 miles plus and it definitely pops more the more miles on it

The exhaust tends to open up more at 8,000 plus miles
