Question Water in boot where tool kit is

Hi Everyone

Noticed this morning that I had an inch of water in the boot where the tool kit is kept and the shelf that covers this was wet as well. I've had it happen a couple times since Xmas and thought it was condensation but not with this amount of water in the boot.

I have a mini copper s 08 I do open and close my boot a lot for work through the day. The top shelf is not wet so I think it may be coming in near the lock as that looks slightly wet and even abut rusty. Has anyone else had this problem is it common in minis? Advice would be very welcome!

Thanks

Leaks

I have suffered with water ingress into the spare wheel well but I have a Clubman. This was eventually cured by the dealer under warranty.

I underdstand that the rubber door seals can leak if the bitumastic isn't continuous around the length of the seal.

There can be other causes also such as water leaking along studs or bolts which pass through the bodyshell.

Same in my 06. Could be the highlevel brake light or the underbody. Is the carpet wet under the rear seats?
