Talking Tax Banding for Cooper

According to today's Auto Express Car Tax band is ' C ' for the Cooper 121-150 g/km (£100) rather than 'E' GOOD NEWS saves fifty pounds. My dealer now owes me £50 on the invoice

Also very positive report, 5 stars, improvements all round. 48 mpg, Corners like a go-kart!

The S appears to be just in band D (<165) @ 164 g/km £125 both Cooper and S now on DVLA site.

Our Cooper Auto is in on the Invoice for £190 at the moment. No news on the Auto CO2 yet?

Still lost out on £50 though as when the Storage Pack was deleted the Clear Indicators appeared as £50 but on the original invoice were £0

Nothing yet, even the brochure has no figures, which is odd with the auto being available from December. Can't believe MINI are already looking at a re-print!

There was an error on the original options lists on SA3 (the dealer's configurator) that showed these as a no-cost option, but only for a few days.

You can check the VED rating from the VCA
VCAcarfueldata.org.uk - VED Calculator

No info on the Cooper Auto yet though

Excellent news on the road tax, though, not as cheap as the £40 for my Toyota Aygo

Am interested to hear if anyone actually gets close to the mpg figures being quoted - I am very suspicious they are overly optimistic

The new engines in all cars are improving mpg beyond recognition. Our new Warrior 2.5Di is doing a minimum 38mpg. (Road Tax same as a Cooper). Our (06) 2.2 CRV does 43-48mpg. The Alfa 2.0JTS does a regular 55-58mpg on a cross country run. (Yes we have a few cars!)

Compare this to my dads 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee he's just got rid of. That was a 4.0litre sraight six Auto that did 12 mpg at best wind assisted (Felt like 10 lamposts to the £1)

48mpg combined just seems too good for a 1.6 car. My Golf with a pretty high tech 1.6 engine managed about 40 combined for me. The official figure is 41 I think.

The MINI is lighter so maybe the claims are real - let's hope so.

This is one of my main reasons for planning a comeback to the brand, as with my daily commute, the fill ups needed to come down.
