| I have a 58 Clubman Cooper D. Last week I was unlucky enough to get a puncture, the tyre garage said they could not be repaired. £128.04 later a new tyre and 300 miles later yet another puncture...! I have been told by the mechanic who changed the tyre informed me the run flat tyres suffer with cold weather. The tyre is so stiff that the rubber cannot stay attached to the alloy wheels. | I have recently replaced my worn Dunlops with Bridgestones - and am quite happy with them - they seem to offer better grip in the wet, and also better economy? Maybe this is becuase they are more modern runflats than my old ones..... Not here much any more |

| Big difference! I chose them after looking through various websites that had tested tyres, and they seemed to offer a good balance between outright performance and cost - I'm not going to take her on a trackday or anything, and value more the way they seem to perform in th wet....hope you are also pleased with them Ian Not here much any more |

| Run flat tyre pressures On a slightly different note, the tyre pressure quotes on 195/55/R16 runflats is 2.2 bar or 32 psi,has anybody anyfeedback as to whether this is to high & causes tyres to wear in middle first. |

| I've had 195/55/16 runflats on 1st gen MCS since new, like them and had no problems. Was advised early on at first tyre change that wear (in the middle or outer - can't remember which now - it was about 100,000 miles ago!) was caused by too low tyre pressure (ie the recommended - which I seem to remember was about 29 psi). The fitter said it was a common problem and advised 35psi which I have used ever since, and tyre wear has been completely even. I'm not a boy-racer so perhaps I'm missing some of the thrills of conventional tyres but on the other hand I don't have to change a wheel on the M1 hard shoulder. MCS is a great motor, new in 2005, 116,000 trouble free and most enjoyable miles. Would buy another, but this one not yet worn out and still as good as the day I collected it. Looking forward to the 3rd gen which might tempt me. |
