Hi all

Just drove the Coop 20 miles in to work (all below 3000 revs) How long to the fans stay on for after exiting the vehicle all my other cars have never done this.

Just Curious??

Interesting you ask about the fan. I've read a few people comment on the fan running for too long including one guy who believes the fan started an electrical fire! (Please don't panic though, I'm not saying yours will do this!) Do a search of this forum and I'm sure you'll find some interesting info.

Others will probably be along in a minute to correct me! x

Have you had your Fused changed under a recall. We have a R56 may 2007 cooper and recentley it was recalled for the fuse fan to be changed.

I added a thread when we 1st had ours with the same problem and it seam normal

Mine used to stay on for ages, had the fuse changed and now doesn't stop on very long.

The engine fan is supposed to come on like that, it's if you don't hear it that you need to worry as this will probably mean your fuse has blown and the engine will overheat (like mine did).

I am told by a reliable source that they can stay on for up to as much as 20mins, but i think this is an extreme case. mine has stayed on for a couple of minutes at the most before going off.

Comment on the engine fan recall is correct. R56's built after June/July should be ok, as this is when mine was recalled. just a shame the dealer didn't do the recall when they had it in (hence my overheating 3 weeks later)
