Is this a standard exhaust? (audio)

Hi,

After many years of waiting, I've finally bought a Mini - second-hand, 2006 (2nd gen), immaculate little beast. One thing which surprises me so far is the noise of the exhaust in the lower-to-middle regions of the revs (probably 1.5-2k). It's quite throaty - not exactly like a cherry exhaust, but there's definite (brief) angry grumble!

It sounds brilliant, but I've no idea if a) this is standard b) there's a problem, it's on its way out or c) it's been modded or upgraded. I've got all the docs, HPI, service-history etc etc. No problems.

Eight-second video of the sound - you can hear what I mean on the first rev (0-3 secs), less so the second.

Thoughts welcome

Thanks

Will

Sorry for the dumb questions, Iain. Just concerned (and really confused) about how it sounds. Pics attached.

Sounds/looks to me like it's on the slightly throatier side of a standard Cooper exhaust.

Blimey. Thanks! I just wish I could find out what, exactly. I had a look underneath and, like the rest of the car, it's immaculate, so I'll rest easy and just enjoy the throaty revs between 1800-2200.

Cheers

Will
