United-Kingdom Service Light

The main dealer set my service light (without telling me) to come on after 900 miles because my rear brake discs were slightly rusty. I had the discs and pads changed by a local garage but they did not / could not reset the service light set by the mini dealership. I followed the instructions on this forum for resetting the service light myself but the 900 miles appeared when I was resetting it and I think that the light may come on again after 900 miles. Is there a way of removing this 900 mile limit completely or will I have to take it back to the main dealer?

Angry Sneaky main dealer

Will I be able to remove this myself or will I have to argue with the main dealer that they should take it off without charging me?

They'll probably charge.

Maybe this will help?

Yes thankyou for that but I had already gone through that procedure and was successful at removing the red light but not the 900 miles limit which I think will make the light come on again after 900 miles.

Umm.

Did they replace the sensors with your pads?

Thank you very much for your replies . I think they said that the sensors were ok so they didn't replace them but the main dealer set the service light to come on at 900 miles so I am not sure whether the sensor is the issue as I was able to get the service light off with the exception of the 900 mile setting.

Sorry I also meant to say that the pads were not worn too bad but I agreed to replace them along with the discs as I had got a lot a lot of miles out of them- approx 65,000 miles!

I have just had my pads done all round and I was told that generally the sensors are replaced at the same time
