just to let you peeps know, got my mini fixed, the rattle was from the friction wheel that drives the water pump.

Annoying genuine BMW approved fuel tank vent valve 'tapping'...

I have a 2010 R56 with 10K miles on it and it makes a racket like rattling a bucket of spanners on cold start up. Quitens down OK once warm. Its always done this.

The dealer advises me its quite normal and is the fuel tank vent valve. To demonstrate, he unplugged the tank source pipe to said valve and the noise magically stopped, reconnected it and away it started again, so I dont think Im being fed bull sh*t.

Anyone else have this?

And am I the only one who thinks this is unacceptable in a new car?
