Advice 2007 Mini Cooper

Hi all,

My mum currently has a 03 mini which she loves but is looking at buying a newer one.

I'm taking her to look at a 2007 convertible tomorrow it's done 42k and looks and sounds to be in decent cond.

Is there anything I should look out for or check that's been done? Or anything big what's going to need replacing around this mileage?

Thanks all

Hi ya

I think the 2007 is still an R52 so all the normal stuff r52 and r53

Make shore the top goes up and down smoothly and properly
Rh top engine mount
Full service history and bills
Engine oil leaks
Tires and wheels are correct
All the electrics work ok just spend your time on them
Windows all work and doors lock ok
Both key fobs work ie unlock lock windows down roof down
Stereo works if its HK and sat nav
No warning lights are on during the test drive but all come on when you first tun the car on and start it.
Check the oil for colour and coolant is full and is coloured power steering fluid is clean and correct level
Gearbox is smooth and no noises when you have the clutch up or down
Exhaust is in good condition ( back box )
All the panel shut lines are good and match well
Dents chips faded or orange peel paint etc
Condition of the trip inside and out
Turn the steering full left full right listen to the power steering pump for abnormal noises

And the list goes on

Take a note book it's always good to write it down its a good bargaining point and a list if they fix things

If you are un shore the AA and a like do a vehicle inspection service and HPI check

If it' a later r57 pretty much as above as well

Good luck take your time if in doubt take pics and ask someone will help

Personally i'd go for the diesel models unless you want a cooper S...the diesels are more fun, faster, smoother, cheaper to run and suffer a lot less engine problems also it would be worth getting one from a dealer thats still under warranty if your budget can stretch that far.........
