Thumbs down Gap between bonnet and wheel arch

I went to the launch party last night at my local dealer. It was the first time I’d seen the new car in the metal.

One on the things I noticed was the large gap between the bonnet and wheel arch (which are now independent).

Anyone else noticed this? At first I thought the bonnet wasn’t closed properly but looking at the 5 cars there, all of them had the same gap.

There is a gap, but have you ever seen a bonnet shut tight panel to panel? Not going to happen! It seems an odd move to make the bonnet so much more complicated. Now instead of two "joins" (across the top and bottom of the clamshell), it now has to be placed to fit around two light cut outs, at the front, at each side, and at the scuttle/ a pannel end. Although the scuttle doesn't have to fit like it does now I guess. On the plus side, there's no gaping hole cutting the front of the car in half, which so often is slightly wonky on the current cars. Win some lose some.

True, I had loads of problems with my current car when I had the aero kit fitted, the dealer couldn't get the aero bumper as close to the bonnet as the original..

Nothing will stop me ordering a new MCS anyway, love everything about the new car.

Well mine's dead straight; But I do have a secret...

I don't keep opening and closing the bonnet unless I need to.
Also that gap cutting the car in half, is vital for air flow around and into the Radiator!

Seen 5 cars today all with close gaps, no issues at all. Think someone has been unlucky or the releases are not secured.
Was told with the release of 4 bolts the front can be moved 6 inches to gain access to parts of engine?

I'm more worried about the huge gap between the top of the wheelarches and the waistline, especially at the rear I appreciate they had to do it to avoid raising the overall height of the car but even on 17s it looks hideously underwheeled, imo. At the factory day recently I was interested to see the stylist grin when I suggested the optimum wheel size (from a design perspective) was 18"

Have been told by dealer that it's adjustable and how they left the factory. A kind of safety measure ?! Anyhow all 5 of his had the gap and I've been told they'll be dropped when they get time.

Can someone post picture(s) of the "gap" before and after so we can check ours is correct when we pick it up?

Thanks.

(No London Underground "Mind The Gap" pics please )

Any news yet on adjustment of bonnets to close the gap between it and the wheelarches a bit?Seems hard to do because there is little room between the headlights and the bonnet to play with.
I'm expecting my BRG MCS soon!

Had my bonnet adjusted on Wednesday as th gap was noticeably bigger on one side - it seems to have made a very slight difference but I think they can do better...

Any chance of some pics of the Bonnet of your "Fixed" car.
Seems the majority of R56 Bonnet Pics on here have this gap problem
