Possable problem with key not opening the boot

Does thebutton on the key, which is supposed to open the boot, work on the UK R56 MCS. I tried mine today & nothing happened.

It does, but only after the unlock button has been pressed

Yep - I believe Martin's correct... although in my case, it _does_ open the boot even if I don't unlock the car, and then it promptly triggers off the alarm! Nice!

Just wondering if the boot is supposed to open up fully when the button is pressed? Mine only pops it open and then I have to lift it the rest of the way open. I've seen the same function on a bmw and the boot shoots up and open fully.....

BMW took this feature off for all UK R56 Mini's. Owners were opening the boot with the key and then placing the key inside you can guess the rest

The full opening thing is not that easy on a hatchback car - you would need a mechanisim to raise the tailgate cmpletely.

On a saloon car, this is a lot easier to acheive as it is smaller and only has to move ~90degrees, not ~180degrees rewuired in the MINI hatchback.

You have to point ours towards the front of the car, and the car has to be open.

You need to hold the button down on the key fob for a few seconds and the boot will pop open (but it won't open all the way up). If you just press the button quickly, nothing will happen.

Mine opens even if the car is locked. The rest of the car remains locked boot lid pops open.

However if you leave the key is the boot is doesent matter as the boot stays unlocked when closed.

The manual states that in certain countries the boot release on the remote does not work unless the car is unlocked.

It works on mine. Just hold the button for a few seconds.

No chance of getting it locked in the boot, the keys always in my pocket - Comfort access is a wonderful thing.

i tried opening the car then pressing the button for a few secs & the boot did pop open, i it was a case of operator error, not a fault with the car. it is a rather good feature isn't it
