Is "Sparkiling Silver", MINI's new "Solid Gold"?

I'm not quite convinced by MINI's new "Sparkling Silver". I've seen a couple of Sparkling Silver new MINIs around and they reminded me of the old "Solid Gold" (in my opinion, a very non-MINI colour)!

But I'm wondering how people feel about it.

Not a fan of the new metallic beige, but it has seemed to have attracted a following.

I liked what I saw of Sparkling Silver on the web, most particularly Dave Bunting's photos from the press event for the USA R56 launch in Arizona: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ad.php?t=91331. I was very much looking forward to seeing it in person.

When I saw a Sparkling Silver R56 in real life parked in my neighborhood, I have to say that the color did nothing for me. At best it was neutral but tending towards slightly unattractive. Perhaps the color works well in the Arizona desert, but I can't say that it does in a city.

I actually prefer Solid Gold to Sparkling Silver.

I wouldn't have either though.

Canada

Each to his own I guess.

Lots of MINI's on my small island. I was looking for something different, something easy to keep clean, and something I think I could live with for many years. And I'm tired of the colour of my 04 MCS (dark silver/white). Not at all tired of the MINI though.

Initially (in February), I had ordered another dark silver, this one with black roof. At the last minute, after looking at all the colours in the flesh, (tradition be dammed) I changed the spec to include SS/B with chrome and black leather. Apparently it's in production this week. But I won't see it here on the west coast of Canada until the end of June.

I have an MCS in SS/B with black lounge leather. I think it looks good when its clean and in sunlight and not too bad when covered in insects and dust. More important you can car wash it without many problems. There are better colours for a MINI but none are as practical. Having already had PS/B, CR/W and EB/W will probably have MY/B next.

I love Sparkling Silver, but don't think it is at all like Solid Gold.

I do not know what i think of it. I cant help but think it would look best on that rover on keeping up appearances!! Its very retro-ey and a throw back to the 80s type of colour.

I was just disappointed that it was the only color MINI seemed to be speccing the redwood red lounge leather. I've only seen it elswhere in a customer ordered BRG and another Astro Black.

That's because the tones work best. Redwood interior with oak or piano black dash and Sparkling Silver is amazing.
However, to be very honest i almost had 2nd thoughts with this colour. I almost changed my order. But the more photos i see, and the more i think about how i got sick of my 04 Cooper S Chilli Red with Stripes, the more i'm looking forward to my new Sparkling Silver

Mine will also have Anthracite Roof
small Metallic Silver on Black Number plates
Black stripes
Chrome Exterior
