remove unperforated blank in scoop

A bit of a long winded title! Does anyone know if the the honeycomb insert in the MCS scoop can be removed? If so how? I haven't even attempted anything yet just don't want to cause any damage to the bonnet. I've had the spot lights fitted which comes with a new grill, because my car is an early one (DEC 06) the new grill has smaller vent/holes I wouldn't mind just having an open scoop to keep things cooler (as in temp!)..Any thoughts?

cheers
Den

Hi!

I removed mine completely.
First you have to remove the small torx screw which is located on the under bonnet side aprox. on the middle of the scoop. Then you remove the whole scoop - from the outside. It is held in place by 4 or 6 "pins" (its a stick which has a round end and this end sits in a hole :-) ) So you should just pull it up - it is possible to slide a screwdriver or similar in between the scoop and the hood and lift the scoop on different sides - BUT be very carefull not to damage the paintwork!!

Unfortunatelly i have no pics...

i hope it helps

@DerekH: Thanks, it is clear enough. It seems to be be very simple piece of metal or plastik bent to direct the air to the turbo.:-)

Damir
