Try R-Tec in Lyons Way, Hatfield Road, St.Albans, Herts and ask for Adrian Ripp and tell that Paul from the bike shop sent you!

I had my Nissan Xterra front windows tinted to match the rears by R-Tec and they did a 100% excellent job!

They're behind Glynn Hopkin, the Nissan dealer if you know where that is?

Hope this helps?

Probably knoe this...but if you tint any windows in from of teh B piller (as in the front side windows) is is illegal. Heard of a few people getting done by Police for this.

Also heard dealers have been warned (by police) not to test drive any customers cars with illegally tinted windows, or they will charge the drivers. So if you get front ones done dealers now refusing to do road tests on cars.

Depends on the percentage of the tint?

Not on the front ones....heard they come out of factory tint'd as far is legal..so add anything and you're stuffed if you get caught.

Just found this... Legal Aspects of Window Tinting - Limousine Window Films, window tinting, tinted windows

Says your allowed a 30% tint on the front windows and you can go as dark as you like on the rears!

That is correct..but mini windows come close to that as standard on the front..so you cannot add anything on top...legally..

Also that is why they offer option of sun protection glass etc at the back only...

I saw this on the news a few months ago, It was "Midlands Today" and they were in Festival Park, Stoke-On-Trent (where all the chavs go with there cars to 'show off') and the police were pulling them over and checking there Halford Special Tinted Windows.

So how were the alledged illegal tinted windows being tested to see if they allowed 70% light transmission and in what conditions?

They have a meter and can do it at the roads side, it simply measures the amount of light let through.... less than legal limit and you get done there and then.

They use a special light transmitter with the sender unit on the outside of the window and the receiver end on the inside of the window.

Thats good news! At least technology is being used. I thought it might be left up to the descression of the individual officer to decide if the windows were too dark or not?

...."your window's is too dark my lad, your ****ing nicked mate".

How you drive might influence whether they stop you and check of course... and if in an accident and have illegal windows it might also mean you are stuffed.. Sure it is the type of thing if reported the insurance company would happy use as an excuse not to pay out !...well they look for any excuse these days.

In my 25yrs of driving experience its what you drive and not how you drive it that gets you pulled over. Many years ago when I had a Ford Capri 3.0 GXL I used to get stopped at about once a week, so I used to permanantly have my licence, insurance and MOT in the glove-box. I remember getting stopped twice in one week by the same two officers!!!
