Spotlights/driving lights??

Hello

I've had some lamps fitted on my mini today and they come on only when you flash your main beam.

Is it possible to make them come with the normal lights? I know i might need some different wiring maybe, is this something easy?

Thanks!

That's normal. I don't think it's legal to do otherwise.

I also don't think it is legal.

Why would you want them on all the time anyway?

In the same boat as driving with foglights on when there is no fog.

Just wrong!

I see that the driving lights are also available in black. Not on the configurator but from the dealer (on MINI dealer sites). Has anyone installed the black ones?

Thanks a lot. I really like the way they look with the black grill.

They will only come on with the headlamp flash and when you activate the main beam for those dark and nasty roads.

they are a main beam mate, you would blind anyone coming towards you - you would have your main beam on all the time. However, you could change the bulbs to normal ones I.e, not main beam (if that makes sense) and hard wire it to your normal lights. Or a resistor on the wiring to the spots to restrict the power thus making them dimmer.

One thing I can't seem to find listed is the diameter of the OEM driving lights. Can anyone tell me what it is? I want to compare their size to some after market offerings.

Are there even aftermarket spots for the R56 yet?

Well there are plenty of lights out there that could work. I guess it's a matter of how they are attached.
For example here's a place that has created there own R56 bracketing system:
