Has anyone managed to remove the orange indicator lenses from the inside of a Gen 2 Mini's headlight without changing the headlight units?

You don't need to remove the unit to replace bulbs. There are 2 covers in the wheel arch that you open to access the units. Top cover for headlights and indicators, bottom cover for parklights and foglights.

RTFM!

I don't want to change the bulbs. I want to remove the orange indicator lens that is mounted within the headlamp unit itself. Mine has huge orange lenses in front of the indicator bulbs.

I have managed it. I followed the instructions that drewuk has listed. It's really easy.
It's a great mod and make the car look completely different.

It only takes about 5 minutes a side and makes a massive improvement doesn't it. I managed to get the lenses unclipped without removing the holder assemblies mentioned in the instructions, just used a long narrow screwdriver.

Yes it's amazing how this small change makes such a difference to the look of the mini. Such a cheap mod.

Appears xenon lights do not have the same area below the reflectors to slide the dislocated orange indicator lens out through.
