I quite like the sunroof, only used it a handful of times since I bought the car in August.. didn't want to even try and open it in the freezing whether as it gets all iced up :/ Sometimes just pulling the shade back is nice though, just to let a bit of light in. If I was to buy a new mini now, I wouldn't go out of my way to find one with a sunroof, but if there was one in my budget with one, it would give it an edge. Hope that's good enough advice!

I got the cooper D soho with the panoramic roof, good so far, I don't really find it noisy and its nice to have all of the light in, thanks

Pan Roof

The sunroof is great, I think it is quieter perhaps on Gen 2 models , I drive on the motorway at up to 80 sometimes and no probs, although of course there is noise- quite as lot when open at that speed - but then I ride a motorcycle too so used to a bit of noise . I would not buy a mini without the pan roof.

One word of caution , it is a complex unit , and I had mine re seated on the rails under Mini Warranty so there is added cost risk as it gets older, as I pretty much open it on tilt or full most reasonabey warm days, you can even have it on tilt when it rains with no spashes inside too. All in all IMHO they are well worth the extra, I only bought my 2008 MCS because it does have it.

I have had my MINI for 2 years and ordered it with the sunroof.
I do like it, I use it most days but yes at higher speeds it can be noisy.

Out of interest I fitted the Union Jack (sunroof) roof sticker a few weeks ago.

And I can still see the light

The only thing I don't like is the screen. I'd prefer a full on black out screen as opposed to the mesh. Sometimes, I just like it darker in there. Else, I love it. For as small of a car as this is, I think this is the first sun roof I've had that actually has the leading edge in front of my head as opposed to directly above it. I can actually look up and see sky instead of the headliner.

sunroof

Was one of the things that worked consistently on MINI me, did not need it on the convertible "MINI me too" and was a complete disaster on the Clubman, four years of not opening on sunny days with MINI unable to fix it over that period. So go for it but make sure it works otherwise it is just a panoramic window on the roof!

I shall call him..."MINI-Me"! Silver/Black MC 2002-2006 - "MINI Me Too" Chilli Red MCS auto 2006-2008 - MINI Me III Mini Dooper Clubman auto 2008-2012 RIP .......2012 The abominable Skoda Yeti!
