Broken Mirror

Anyone had issues with mirrors on 2011ish non-power fold mirrors?

Our passenger side mirror has broken after my wife folded it back. It has been folded in about ten times in total. The car is only 10 months old, took it to dealer where we purchased it new. Have been told no chance of warranty and it will be over £300.00 They have said "it has been forced" wife said just moved it as on previous times, although right from the start I felt like the mirrors would come off in your hand when folding them in.

Very disappointed with both the quality and also dealer attitude. What are your thoughts on this?

I have tried to see if the covers and glass will come off without breaking, as I will just order a new mirror and fit it myself. Has anyone got a reliable way of removing the glass without breaking it? I have looked at the usual posts on YouTube etc, but the glass seems very tight on the clips.

Any help, gratefully received.

Be extremely careful when removing the mirror glass, it is secured very tightly. I accidentally broke mine when attempting to remove it to replace the cover. The glass cost £70 to replace You have been warned.
