I recently acquired a 2007 1.4 Mini One from a family member who mentioned at the time that there had been an issue with the vehicle stalling when stationary. He’d taken it to the garage he purchased it from (Audi/VW specialists) who were unable to identify the cause. It hadn’t occurred for a few weeks after that but then today just under two weeks since I started driving it, the engine cut out at a roundabout. It was so quiet I didn’t even realise. I re-stared it & it occurred again before I could even put any revs on & then a third time, no spluttering as though I’d simply turned the engine off. I drove a couple of miles & stopped at some lights & it happened again, five times
Looking back I see the issue has been raised before going back to 2007 but wondered if anyone had a definitive answer as most posts report the dealer couldn’t identify an issue.
I have had this issue for over a year, my 61 plate Mini One bought from new. It stalls, Huddersfield, cuts out at roundabouts and traffic lights, seriously dangerous! Been on the phone repeatedly to Mini and advised to check oil and water AND to only use premium unleaded fuel. No better!!
Took it in to Mini this morning to be told it's the throttle actuator that's sticking and it needs to be cleaned and replaced.
It's 3.5 years old, 44,000 miles on the clock, full Mini service history, careful driver etc etc.
Not at all what I'd expect from a luxury brand and conveniently outside the warranty period, when the issues started way before it expired.
No-one will acknowledge my loyalty to Mini, being the 2nd car from new from this dealership. Over £40,000 spent in the last 6 years?!
I am now emailing Mini Customer Services but doubt the service I receive post sales will compare with the purchasing of both new cars, if this morning's patronising treatment is anything to go by?!
The Mini 'experience' has not lived up to the marketing hype!
