LSD & ASC+T enough ??

Is LSD and ASC+T enough or should i go for DSC?

Not being the most technically gifted when it comes to cars, I'm trying to decide whether i should go with the LSD and ASC+T or LSD and DSC?

What are the advantages of DSC?

Given that the R56 looks like its on stilts i'm going to drop the suspension a little! so will this make any difference to the choice to make?

"Not the most technically gifted" means what? The less "technically gifted" a driver is arguably the more driver aids they should get, and the less they should consider lowering and otherwise messing with standard settings, in my opinion anyway.

The DSC is different to the ASC+T, and the LSD is completely different technology which has a different impact too.

What are your main considerations and what do you want it for/to do? As a safety measure it's hard to beat DSC, in terms of the drive and performance the LSD is a real boon and makes a big difference for a small outlay.

I always advise people go for DSC, even though I haven't always specced it, as it's a very good, lever safety feature that could get you out of serious hot water one day.

Personally I'd go for the LSD every time now, but again, depends what and how you drive, or want to drive, the MINI.

LSD, traction control

Don't know if this helps but I have a 2005 mini cooper s and I didn't go for the DSC. I just had the LSD installed. I never have the traction control on, every time I get into my car I turn it off as it is really annoying when it cuts the power when trying to make a quick get away from junction or traffic lights. Also if you are mid corner and need to accelerate out then it is not good when is cuts in as you could end up backwards into a fence, hedge etc. I cannot comment on the DSC system but I have found that the LSD is good enough to get the power on to the tarmac. Obviously if you put to much rpm on then you will get wheel spin but both wheels will spin opposed to one if the LSD was not installed.

Thanks Paul,

What i mean in technically gifted, i mean understanding the technical benefits of the features. Not driving abilities.

I am definately speccing the LSD for the R56 S. What i can't decide is whether to go for DSC as well.

I'm not planning on any Track days, but do enjoy the odd spirited drive

How does the DSC work? If its purely safety, then its worth going for. If its only a performance assistance, then no point!

As you say its a major safety feature then i'll probably go for it.

Cheers

DSC is a safety feature.

FAQ: What do ABS, ASC, CBC, DSC and EBD mean?

I got DSC and LSD... LSD to get out of corners quicker and DSC for the wet greasy roads in winter. Personally I would not buy a car without this.
