| Remapped Cooper vs. Remapped Cooper D? Hi guys. Currently deciding on wether to order a new cooper or cooper D. Whichever i get i'll end up having it remapped. My question is which do people will think end up faster/more fun to drive??? Angel tuning are offering remaps for both. Specs are as follows... R56 Cooper Stock... 118 Bhp - 118 lb.ft torque. Remapped.... 131 Bhp - 132 lb.ft torque. R56 Cooper D Stock... 108 Bhp - 177 lb.ft torque. Remapped... 143 Bhp - 227 lb.ft torque. |

| the petrol will always be more fun to drive as the diesel will always run out of steam, ie will never have the same power band as the petrol. if you are going to spend money on remaps etc, go for the petrol everytime. |

| Hi James, the info is from Chip Tuning VW, BMW, Audi and Alfa Romeo - Angel Tuning, they dont yet have the cooper remap listed on their site but if you drop them an email, they'll get back to you with the information. So if both cars were remapped (Cooper & Cooper D) do people think the Dooper would have better 0-60, mid range punch, top speed etc? |
| ||||
| My guess for after remaps would be very similar 0-60 (8 secs or so), top speeds both around 130 but midrange on a Dooper would be better. However a Cooper should have a great powerband after a chip. Youd be able to go faster easier in a Dooper but maybe have more fun in a Cooper. Sorry, Im not helping! |
| |||
| So, here in Luxembourg, where diesel remains cheaper than petrol (66p per litre vs 77p), it would be smarter to go with the chipped Dooper?? Not here much any more |
| |||
| Yup - I drive 50 miles a day just to and from work, so I'm very aware of the consumption of my current Cooper cabrio.....so here's hoping they put an oil-burner in the new-model cabrio next year! Ian Not here much any more |

| I think i may end up going for the dooper. I don't drive my car as hard as it can be driven everywhere i go, but i do want a good amount of power available for when it's wanted. I'm presuming the Dooper's big advantage in torque will make the car feel faster/pull harder? |
| |||
| I think after the remapped, the Dooper would be a lot faster...But the top speed and fun cooper would be great than Dooper, Cooper has better power band than dooper but in 60-100km/hr or 80-120km/hr Dooper would be a lot faster... But if you think you will do only remap, Go for Dooper because deseil engine has less modification thing than Pestol engine, Cooper has many many engine mods waiting for you.... |

| If you learn to drive the diesel properly it WILL be faster than the cooper for sure and a lot more fun. You have to learn to change up earlier and ride the torque in a Diesel. I still say i wish i could have my old Seat IbizaTDi engine in my MCS, with 330 lb/ft torque there was not much that could touchh it in-gear from 50-80. If it was my money, i'd go for the Cooper D. However for the price of a modded Cooper D you could have an MCS turbo, |

| Don;t agrea with that, the Diesel engine will havea lot more scope than the cooper engine. anything you can do to a petrol you can do to a diesel, Plus the diesel has a turbo, which can be modded, intercooler change, boost settings, bigger injectors. The Diesel is a lot more tubnable than the the cooper engine will ever be. Have a look at some of the VAG sites to see how much can be done to a modern day diesel |
