Fitting guide for the JCW Stage 1 ITG replacement filter & JCW Rigid Turbo Inlet Pipe

Hi guys.

I've bought myself a replacement ITG filter for the JCW airbox (the one thats part of the dealer fit Stage 1 kit) I'm also picking up a JCW rigid intake pipe from the stealer's tomorrow.

So, I was just wondering if anyone has fitted these parts themselves? If so, could you possibly give me a idiots guide to fitting them?

I haven't tried fitting anything myself before, well except mirror caps, which I messed up!

Do I need any tools?

Thanks in advance.

Screwdriver, don't know what head you will need for the airbox but flat head for the turbo inlet pipe. Thats it!

You will need...

A Torx driver set to remove the screws from the front of the air filter box and the two screws that hold the turbo inlet pipe onto the front of the air filter box.

A medium sized Philips or cross-head screw driver to remove the small screws that hold the air filter in place inside the air filter box.

A medium sized flat blade screw driver to undo the hose clip on the intake side of the turbo.

And about 30 minutes to do the job and install the parts when the engine is cold as the turbo gets ****ing hot!!! You don't want to burn your hands, do you?

With the JCW stage 1 kit, the ITG filter, Works turbo inlet pipe and a tank full of decent petrol, you should be getting about 205 to 208bhp?

And if you get the Miltek hi-flow cat, you'll be up to about 215 to 218bhp....l like me!

Have fun!

P.

I wouldn't worry, they are two very easy parts to change. As Paul says they give you a noticeable change when driving.

Right, need to get hold of a TORX set then.

Might just see if the dealer will slyly fit it for me when I go and pick it up, no harm in trying I guess.

How about the bit that branches off, the one that my highly dodgy attempt in paint shows?

It's called the "breather pipe", it just pulls off and push's back on with no clips etc.

Has anybody who's installed the rigid intake tube on their MCS experienced any problems at all?

I put it on mine, felt like a good fit, especially with the clamp tightened down snug. I have read that the diameter of intake for the JCW turbo vs the MCS turbo is different and that by installing the rigid tube on an MCS it can work loose and a cause catostrophic problem.

Did anybody take the rubber seal from their stock MCS tube and put it inside the rigid tube by any chance?

R99 has suffered turbo failure...

I'd recommend not doing it due to the difference in size.
