Hi, I am considering a remap soon, car is coming out of warranty in the near future.
After speaking to someone in the know, at the present time it is only Will at P-torque and the guys at evolve (evo-s) that can really do the R56 Cooper S in the UK with any certainty, we know how good the p-torque software is, it really has been used in many,many UK R56 S cars now and I do not see anyone complaining, I have read threads in plenty of places, plenty, infact it gets rave reviews and it seems so does Will, however we know little about the newly released evo-s software, from my research it has had some development in Greece,it would be nice for the guys at evolve to give us some more info on their maps, I know they are well respected in the UK BMW world, but would be nice if they could chime in a bit more on here.
For example, I have an R56 Cooper S with full milltek already, without any software upgrade and just want to purchase your software,how much would your software alone cost including dyno time?
Just to reiterate, the scenario is I have an R56 Mini Cooper S with full turbo back Milltek exhaust already fitted, I guess it would be your stage 3 software.
My car is also automatic, have you applied your software to any auto boxed R56 cooper S cars, guess torque maybe limited?? What figures for BHP/Torque please? Are you willing to apply your software to a car that already has a full Milltek, but no upgraded software?
I will be ready for software in approx. 4 weeks, just thought I would ask the evolve guys for their input before I make my mind up.

We have a dealer in Greece who remaps many R56 MCS's for a MINI dealer in Athens.
Although we are new to this forum, we have remapped 2 members cars now -both of whom will post up reviews shortly, our software has been running on R56 S's for over 8 months. That is time after our development period which was around 3 months. We have significant experience tuning turbo charged cars - mainly the BMW 335i/135i and Porsche 996 Turbo's. For us we pushed into developing tunes for the R56 S by our trade customers and retail customers who had these cars as second cars. It was also a natural progression for us as we are a BMW specialist and consider the MINI to be part of that family.

You are right in saying that there are only 2 choices in the UK that can get good power out of these cars. They are not as easy to tune as other turbo cars.
In answer to your questions: Yes the stage 3 software would be applicable. We are currently running a forum offer of £349 inc VAT for cars out of warranty, which includes dyno time and full diagnostics check. If customers already have the Milltek system then of course we can just supply our software. This offer will also be available from our dealer in Warrington who we are just setting up, they also have a Dyno Dynamics rolling road like ours.
We have applied our software to cars with automatic transmission without any issues.
Typical power using V Power fuel for your modifications is 240 BHP / 270 Ft/lbs Torque.

BMW Car magazine were here yesterday doing a write up on our stage 3 upgrade. The editor who came to review the car was very impressed - you can read his write up in next months issue of the magazine.

The car above is mine and to say i have been impressed with the guys at Evolve would be a massive understatement. I have owned many cars that have been tuned by various tuners in the past. Many of these have cost considerable amounts of money. None come close go comparing with the team at Evolve and the level of service they offer.
They really know their stuff and their passion shines through. I had fitted at full Milltek system along with an Alta induction kit. I started to suffer with the engine management light comming on. Phill at Milltek recommended having the car properly set up on a dyno and getting a re-map. He put me in touch with Evolve who were local to me.
When Evolve finished i was amazed at the difference. The car feels alive and wants to pull in every gear. I know it sounds daft to compare a small capacity petrol with a large capacity diesel but its a fair comparison. I also drive a 320cdi Mercedes with 420ish ft torque. The mini will now pull strongly from under 1500 revs in any gear. I have no flat spots and enjoy amazing performance that is useable in every gear at any time. I now smile every time i drive the car.
Amazingly my partner who does not enjoy driving and was against me tuning the Mini now much prefers driving it.
I do not believe you will find a better tuner to improve your pride and joy.
I started out wanting to own my own version of a JCW mini and believe what i have now is much better thanks to these guy's.

The P-Torque software was the first remap available in the UK for the new R56 models.
We tune the R56 models for race teams and own our own development car here.
Various stages are available, the most popular being our stage 1 software which offers approx 205hp and 230lbs/ft torque. This is £345.00 all in, including dyno power runs.
Stages after this includes uprated induction, downpipe, intercooler etc, according to the customers budget and requirements.
We also work very closely with Milltek as we developed software specifically for their downpipes when released
Lokk forward to hearing the results. I have milltek turbo back to fit, JCW Brembos to fit and get ECU programmed by mini and then I am all set for a P-Torque or Evolve remap.
I'm slap bang in the middle of both of them so undecided as yet.
Had my Mini Cooper S R56 remapped by evolve yesterday and i would like to say a big thank you to Imran who made me feel welcome and did a superb job on my car. I am very particular about my cars and it is nice to find a team that run a well presented garage and know their profession. I would not hesitate to use them in the future for other cars.
If anyone is thinking of having their car remapped please stop thinking and just do it!
The car now is faster in all areas of the rev range and has given the chassis the power it deserves. My car went in making 205bhp(standard from factory) and is now making 243bhp(standard with evolve remap) which I am sure you all will agree is certainly a much better power output when compared to the genuine mini stage 1 upgrade!

i have a factory jcw 2009
bolted on a forge intercooler
itg panel filter
samco silicone turbo hoese.
samco delete resonator pipe
and then i took it to my trusted friends at RED DOT RACING in enfeild. north london. this is the forth car i took to them. prevoius 3 being, mondeo 2004 tdci mapped to=180bhp
mazda 626 td mapped to 130bhp and peugeout 307 hdi 110 mapped to 144bhp
they are very reputable and soo good at what they do
custom remap
rolling road dyno first
uploading of current ecu parameters
and then looking at the condtion, service and upgrades of the car, they then map it.
they mapped it and put it on the rolling road again
261.2 bhp!
and its wonderful. the pull is just amazing.
im sure the guys at evolve and p-torque do a similar job,
but i just wanted to share my experince with you guys, as they are not the only tuners for your mini.
they charged me £250. but i had to drive down from manchester.
well worth the day out tho!
I'm thinking of having a remap on my R56 Cooper S, I'm wondering how the remap works with and without the sport button pressed. I'm not a fan of the steering weight with the sport button pressed, I prefer light steering on my car. Really what I want to know is what the power delivery is like without the sport button activated. Id really like the sport throttle map without the weighted steering, any Ideas?

Just got home from P-Torque having remapped my R56 Cooper S, 59 plate. The re-map is superb, and came out with 249.9hp at flywheel, 232.2hp at wheels. Was quite surprised by the un-remapped numbers too, 208.8hp at flywheel, 181.9hp at wheels.
The service with Will is excellent, and the greasy spoon cafe does an excellent fry up for under a fiver! I was in and out in under an hour and the drive home was much more fun! Mpg seems to be about the same, but is difficult to tell over a short period of time.
If you're thinking about getting this done, I highly recommend P-Torque and Will as an excellent outfit and brilliant end result
