USA R56 ECU remap I just want a remap through the ECU ODB I can reverse and make no changes or other modifications. Ten more HP and a little more torque and I am happy. I don't want to go down the road to massive changes. All I can find is chips requiring cutting wiring and I do not want to do that. It has an 118 HP (88 kW) 1.6-litre Prince engine with BMW's Valvetronic infinitely variable valve timing, no turbo. (for why read on) I am located in the US and will have to do the OBD-II programming myself, that is IF I can find the OBD-II tool and suitable software to load on the ECU. I am an Electrical Engineer so doing the work myself doesn't put me off. I LOVE the MINI I have it is just a tad light on power and torque and runs out of puff too early. It does have DSC and Sport mode. I think Sport was added due to having to add the Sport steering wheel option in order to get cruise control. I'm not a street racer kid or anything like that in fact I'm over 50. I wanted a Mini when I was 12 but Mini lost its US green card before I got my driver's license. I just want my plain stock MINI to be a little more perky on giving it a bit of wellie so to speak. If I were after a John Cooper Works missile I would have gotten it in the first place, meaning my performance improvement expectations are limited. So can you help me get just a little more out of my plain non-turbo MINI Cooper? Mark Fay |

| What would be really neat would be if an extra 20-25 HP came on line when sport was selected. Sport is default off when the engine starts were a nominal 10 HP increase would be fine until you ask for more. I don't know if this could be done but it would be neat if it where. Mark Fay |

| You might consider the AccessPort from Alta Performance. It's popular with the high performance crowd, and might also work with the base Mini. Check their website for contact info and product specifics. P.S. - My son is almost your age! |

worth a try I did a contact us with essentially what is here asking if they can help. It might be worthwhile for others to do the same in a sort of show of hands of other like mined folks. ![]() altaperformance.com/welcome/contact]Alta Performance - Contact Us |

| Hello Mark... I want to do exactly what you are looking for. I am about to buy a stock 2009 Mini (non-turbo non-s). Car feels good, but can use a bit more pep. Wondering if you had any luck in figuring out the ECU related mods? |

| If there's a market they should be able to be persuaded to do it. The only reason something like Bluefin or AccessPort don't work is because no one has made a map for the Cooper. With some support from people committing to buying the product might convince them to do the R&D but of course they'll need the numbers to make their investment worthwhile. ![]() R56 MINI Cooper S JCW Challenge |
