JCW Tuning Kit

Has anyone heard anything about the retro-fit John Cooper Works tuning kit for the current generation S engines? US availability? I read where Mini had announced it at Geneva last year, but have heard nothing more about it. My Countryman S could use it.

I just bought a used 2010 S convertible from a dealer in Calgary, Canada. I had them install the JCW tuning kit. It was installed in December 2011. So it does exist.

Hi AVP,

How does your convertible go now it has the JCW kit? I'm thinking about to getting this done here in Aus but these things can be very expensive here... The alternative is to find an aftermarket BMW tuner.

I'm not really knowledgeable about JCW aftermarket tuning - what did you get in the kit and is it worth the expense?

Cheers

Fipper

Well, it's my first mini, so I don't know how much help I can be to you...

But, the kits includes:

Intake Manifold, JCW Air Box, JCW exhaust and specific JCW Tuning.

They told me:

It’s $3569.5 plus tax and installation included. ($CAD) But I was buying the car at the same time, so it all got mushed together, price-wise...

So is it worth it? I guess that is very subjective...

I picked up the car a few weeks ago, and just drove it about 15km to my house, and parked it in my garage (as I only plan to use it during summer). So I didn't really get a great chance to form an opinion on it. I was fairly impressed that driving on the highway in 6th (approx 120km/h), and if you step on it, it still accelerates pretty good...

My winter car is an Audi RS4, so my feelings are a bit tainted from driving the audi everyday...

Hope that helps...
