what the f is this noise

Hey all, i have a 2008 mini cooper r56 with the jcw performance kit.

This engine makes so many weird noises its unbelievable!!! ...can someone help here please im not mechanically minded.

my limp mode comes on and off every month or so...saps my power away and then fixes it!..

my turbo sounds like it surges most of the time .... and even sometimes i can hear a bloud whistle and a mighty blow off sound that sounds alot louder than the normal bov...Hmmm

does anyone know about the noises from these engines at all ?

as im looking to get remap and decat next week from performance torque!

I will be following this thread. Just bought an '07 JCW Mini and I'm hearing a weird knocking sound at idle and a bunch of odd whining sounds at various vehicle speeds/engine speeds/gears... Didn't notice them when I bought it of course. :-/ Nothing that sounds like damage happening, but I'd love to know if this is normal or not.

In case you wondered, it is running on premium gas and recently had an oil change.

Best thing is to get the fault codes read. If you cant do that at a guess it sounds like you may have an air leak (whistle sound).

The standard blow off valve is made from plastic & is unreliable, maybe look at that.
