United-Kingdom R56 1.6 Cooper remap

Hi. We have a 2008 1.6 Cooper and have had a few quotes for remapping the engine. Most of them give about 18-20bhp extra. Is this noticeable. I'm just wondering if its worth it. I have a 300C any my remap give an additional 70bhp - well worth it.

Any recommended tuners for these would be great too.

Thanks
Lance

If my research is correct, your MINI has 120 PS, which means that the extra 18-20 hp from the remapping - roughly a 15% increase on power) should make for a quite noticeable (though not drastic) boost in performance.

General consensus is that you'll hardly (if ever) be able to notice any power increases up to 5%, while 10% usually gives you a noticeable boost in performance. Please mind this is not a hard rule as the perception of performance is affected by many other factors such as gear ratios, torque gain throughout the rev range (this one greatly affecting actual performance), throttle pedal response, exhaust and induction noise...

Is the 18 - 20 hp advertised power gain produced only by the remapping or does it also require an intake and exhaust upgrade? A 15% gain in a non-turbocharged engine by remapping alone seems to be a little too much...

Hope this helps!
