Another MCS CAI Thread
New to the site and new to Mini life having recently purchased a 2007 Cooper S, the second mini I have owned with the first being an orginal '76 Morris Mini.
I know there have been a number of intake threads and having read through a lot of them I couldn't help but raise a question.
Having spent some time recently around the JCW Mini Challenge cars I couldnt help but notice that the air intakes are of the Forge carbon cylindrical design, but rather than being connected to the factory cold air intake they are routed into the high pressure zone in between the bulkheads beneath the windscreen.
I have noticed that this was something that DOS had tried with their intake system but I can't help but feel this has got to be a better isolated cold intake area and that there might even be scope to create a modified standard air box to make use of this area of high pressure air.
My thoughts are the standard air box base would retain the stock air feed from the front of the vehicle with a modified/fabricated upper section with a secondary air feed through into the bulkhead, in addition this would free up the bonnet scoop to cool the turbo, again as per challenge cars.
Thoughts and feedback greatly recieved.
