Its not terribly difficult and I recently reinstated a cat on a 63 plate JCW thats going to be traded in. The most awkward bits are getting to the heat shield bolts.
It all really depends how competent you are. Budget yourself 2/3 hours from start to finish and soak your nuts/ studs on the turbocharger while your undoing the heat shield and cat from underneath the car and remove the 02 sensors as you will need to fit these to the decat. Don't force the studs on the turbo because you could sheer them and don't damage the gasket either as you can reuse this. It may also be worth while cutting slots in the heat shield so when you need to refit the cat you only need to partially undo the nuts and can slide the heat shield up and off rather that undo the pesky nuts as they are fiddly to refit again. Make sure your decat fits snug into the turbo before tightening everything up otherwise the car will run like a bag of shyte and you'll get exhaust gasses in the cab
Its pretty straight forward buddy but not fun out in the cold. If you take your time and be methodical then you won't have a problem
