The only way your going to find out if it works is to run a base line Dyno test on the car, then add the chip and retest to see if there is any gains or benefit !
Several car shows have tested performance chips and have found most if any don't work and the ECU will automatically reset any signal change from O2 sensors and MAP/MAS sensors back to factory settings.
5th gear in the UK did a segment where they changed the air filter, plugs etc (as per a normal service) with some injector cleaner in the fuel and found that was where they got the most gains on a Dyno for improvement on a car that was several years old.
