Retrofit JCW Rigid Intake Pipe with dealer-fit JCW engine kit

Trawling through the FAQ and other forum posts still left me with the following burning questions...

Does any of you have the JCW rigid intake pipe fitted on their JCW stage 1 kitted "S"? I saw this item on Genuinemini.co.uk and got more than a bit curious whether the "smoother power delivery" it promises, is actually noticeable when giving the car a good workout and what other handling benefits people have noticed (if any). Does it increase torque, or does it merely change the curve?

Part II of the question is whether fitting the JCW rigid intake pipe would void the TLC on the car, or come with limitations on the warranty. One the one hand, it is an OEM part, but then again not fitted as standard on an "S" and not even on a JCW Stage 1 kitted "S".

Thanks in advance for your comments!

Jurgen

do a search, theres loads of info on this...
it's literally a 2 minute job to swap, it does make a small difference, a worthwhile mod.
I don't think swapping it will make any difference to your warranty

I have the rigid turbo inlet pipe fitted to our JCW Stage 1 tuned R56.

The rigid pipe improves the air flow into the turbo, which makes the turbo spool up quicker which makes the engine more responsive. I've also heard that the original soft rubber turbo inlet pipe can partially colpase at high rpm when the car is driven hard?

Fitting the pipe will not void your warranty as its an original BMW part.

P.

I too are having the stage 1 tuning kit fitted next week and thinking about the rigid intake pipe. Should i be staying clear of this mod?
