Help prior to purchase of '58 JCW

Afternoon All

New to the site and the brand. Admired from afar and now have the chance to own. I've just sold my 911 C4S and I'm desperate to get into something that's small and fun, hence coming to the Mini brand.

I've been looking through the dealer network, however the cars available are out of budget, regrettably. I'm after a car with a sun roof, nav system and upgraded stereo. I think I've found one, a 58 plate, however the chap who's selling it might not have listed the spec correctly. I'm going to call a dealer and ask them to run a search on the plate and see what comes up, in your collective experience, would a dealer be receptive to this? Or alternatively, is there a site I can enter the reg into to get the full spec?

I'm keen to know if Mini Connected can be retro fitted, or does it have to come from the factory? Can I assume that the Sat Nav s/w be upgraded and then buy a 2012 disk? At this stage, could I purchase the Connected pack?

I'm also keen to know what face lifts have been applied to the range since December '08, are there any tell tell signs of it's age, either internally or externally?

Regarding bluetooth, were / are there any limitations with a Dec '08 car?

Many thanks for reading and hope I'm able to tap into your knowledge base.
Cheers, Nick

A JCW MINI, is fun and quick and quite well made for what it is, but its not a 911 equivalent.

Yes, very different, but one that I'm very excited about.

I've bought the 58 plate this morning, collect on Saturday. So now I'm even more excited!

Does anyone know about upgrading the firmware / navigation disk to 2012 spec, it only has the 2008 disk in.

All the best.
Nick

Also, a recommended supplier of tyres? Or down to own web based search experiences etc?

Picked the car up yesterday, very please.

Small problem, when I load the Sat Nav dvd, it loads and then after a few moments, it shuts the screen down and re-boots itself. Very annoying.

I'm planning on upgrading the firmware & purchasing the latest dvd for 2012, however, should i be worries / looking into faults with the hardware?

Previous experience anyone?

All the best, Nick
