I bought mine (#185) yesterday and collect it on Saturday. I currently have a 2009 Mini Cooper S Convertible and like yourself, was blown away when I saw the Challenge 210.
I was thinking about getting rid of my drop top S and only went in to get a rough valuation. After seeing the 210 as well as sitting in it and test driving a JCW S, I bought the dealer demo model straight away!
I can't wait to pick it up and hear that exhaust in a tunnel!
Since you've had yours, do you have any advice!? How is it using the 'iDrive' type system?
Hi. I purchased my Challenge 210 at the end of March and its number 105.
I went into the dealership looking to put in an order for a well equipped Cooper S or JCW and loved the look of the Challenge which came in a little cheaper than the JCW I built. I am liking the limited run with specific individual numbering and the exhaust note in track mode makes me smile each time its in use (takes me back to my early days of motoring in the likes of the Renault 5 Gt Turbos etc).
Hopefully the 210 will prove to be a good little motor and hold a fair residual value with it being a limited edition but only time will tell. I hope everyone who has bought one has as much fun as I am and will keep an eye on this forum to see how many other owners of the 210 register.
I was at the dealers today getting a service and they had a new Challenge 210 in the showroom, already sold though, nice looking car.
I was surprised to see considering its 210 bhp it didnt have the Brembo brakes on it, unlike the existing 211 bhp JCW, now if you need them for 211 why not for 210 bhp I thought?
Had a look at a 210 and test drive. Great car and the exhaust sounds amazing. Then had a test drive in the new JCW and ordered one. Love the exhaust on the 210, it should have been standard on the JCW. Love the Brembo brakes on the JCW, why didn't they fit them on the 210.
Asked the dealer about fitting the 210 exhaust on the JCW, apparently it will be available but not for a couple of months.::frown::
Just put deposit on no: 040, it's my wife's 40th birthday pressie. As soon as I saw the edition number, it just had to be. Collect on September 1st, the four week wait is going to kill me....
Mini got in touch with me a week ago telling me they had the deal of the year for me....of course they did!! Lol....to cut a long story short, I was negotiating for a week via email whilst sat at work but nothing came of it. My fiancé was home for the week as had a course up town and I basically did her head in every night about the 210 which they were offering me! The deal was pcp but I don't feel comfortable on pcp so I've bought it in hp, trading my 13plate Bayswater cooper s in for my deposit on the 210 which I collect tomorrow night after work!! No.108!!! I would loved to had 210!!! That is the one worth pure money me thinks!....anyways, I can't wait!! What kind of fun is instore for me???
Dyno time with the Challenge 210.... Made 248hp and 280lbft in sport mode with the exhaust flap open.
Interesting to see significantly less power with exhaust closed and not on sport mode...
It does show they "under played" the challenge 210 so as not to overshadow the 230hp JCW when it came out.
Standard mode with exhaust flap closed, 233hp
Standard mode with exhaust flap open, 237hp
Sport mode with flap open, 247hp
No wonder it's quick, with 280lbft!!
Whose dyno was it??? I can't believe it's that much....actually I can do!!! It's ridiculously quick....do you use all the tech inside the car or not really?....
I love the car heaps, defo can feel the change in the car when in sport mode, green and sport with exhaust open!....going for a 105mile drive tomorrow in it, so it should be fun!! Lol.
***edit....have you had any work done on the car, remap etc??
Brakes are ok, take a little bit of getting used to after having the R56 cooper S. These seem a little slower braking....consideration of upgrading to the brembos is an option. But at the price they come in at I'm not sure it warrants it.
I have done the jcw tuning kit upgrade and was wondering if the existing cooper s brakes would be suffice. For now I am happy but could do with more bite hence the question around upgrading to brembo Jcw or not.
Got number 021 in June. Right numbers wrong order. Interested to see the HP stats. Assumed I was a poor relation of a bog standard JCW. Car is a joy and I was taken in by the appearance, plus they had it in the middle of the showroom. Went to buy a top spec JCW so when I saw the 210 I had prepared myself to commit a certain amount of £ so it wasn't hugely more. Also think limited edition top spec is a winner residual value wise.
Traded in a 9.5 yr old cooper S against it.
Exhaust is a joy. Like to pop it on when I'm passing some kid in a heap of rubbish who's making a racket with a cheap exhaust modification. Show them a proper noise.
Don't think the brakes are the best. Have to give it a bit more than the old cooper S but I feel I'm stopping a limo compared to that.
Anyone got a 0-62MPH for it. Nothing published. A car of mystery.
Sorry for the late reply....brakes are better than what I think they were originally.....so much so I braked the other week and had some clown go right up the back of me and the car was in the bodyshop for about a week. I would still consider the JCW upgrade but I think I'd have to take a jcw manual out to test the brakes.....could always post up on minitorque and see what happens???
However when my car was in at the bodyshop they did a quality enhancement check which translates as a recall I believe. It's to do with the crankshaft bearing housing. On some of the MCS models the wrong housing was built for a certain batch of engines and I think they recalled all.
If you want fun go with the 210. Life is too short to be boring.
You will constantly be amazed by the car, from the sound to the stunning interior and great tech to the suspension and handling. No looking back.
Only part I think they should have included in the 210 are jcw brakes because my stock brakes are struggling with this additional power and cornering driving style where the eDiff applies brakes.
Neither have i! got it in May and love every second of driving it!
