Ladies and Gentlemen:

I'm floating an idea for a meet in January to take place at Victory Kart in Charlotte, NC. I've left the geographical scope wide as Charlotte is pretty easy to get to for most poeple. Victory is right off of the interstate on the north side of Charlotte.

I'll propose two dates and see what response we get - January 11th and January 18th (both Saturdays). We can meet at Victory, race, and maybe get a bite to eat afterwards.

If you've never karted before, it is an absolute blast. You'll feel like you are driving a smaller Mini, except you're rear will be a couple of inches off of the ground (and the interior is not as cool!). Victory is an indoor track, using 5.5hp karts that you can get up to about 30mph. This is not put-put karting - you have to wear a full face helmet (provided) and overalls and the course is more challenging.

If we can get enough interest, I'll get in contact with the track and see if we can arrange a special rate. Otherwise, we can just turn up and race. So, if you are interested, please respond to this thread. Thnx.

I'm there! Both dates would probably work fine for me.

We could also ask if they want to promote it in some way on their site (to bring in more Mini owners that are not Mini2ers) - just an idea. I guess it depends on how much Mini2 interest we have. A group of 10 or 12 would probably be about what we would want?

Group size might be a logistical issue more than anything else - if we have 10-12+ then I'm sure we can make this an exclusive event rather than a show and ride deal.

Good to hear some one else is coming up with that idea.. ive been batting that around up here in Richmond with a few of the other Mini people. Our track up here is calle G-Force racing. Uses simular karts but with the 6.5 hp motors rest of its the same and yes its a blast.. unfortunatly I work both Friday and Saturday nights there for I wouldnt beable to attend. If it goes well then maybe it can be set up for here as well. Now G-force will rent the building out for groups to have there own private races dont know if Victory will but thats something you can also kick around.

The reason you may not have heard back from the OP is that MINIMENC is originally from the UK, and he's probably visiting the Olde Countrie for the holidays.

Thanks Chip, I didn't know MINIMENC was from the UK. I checked, and the last time he posted anything on MINI2 was to this thread.

Tony, I think it's great that you are organizing a go cart run. I'm going to split those posts off into a separate thread with a more accurate title.

Not a problem April.. I only suggested it because you said this one was dead. and for those who may have been looking forward to it have an option to still have a go-kart meet. I was going to wait until after he had his to see how it went before tring to make one of my own. IF minimenc does return and wish to continue this event ill postpone mine to a later date. Maybe one where i can Bring my own mini (hint hint wink wink). Also if its possible can you tell me the final date thats being set for the Dragon run. I may just have my car that i want to bring ready by then and of course i will need to see if i can get those days(nights) off from work.

Yes, it looks like Jan 11th is gelling as a date for the event. I will call Victory today and see if we can block off some time - that may generate some more interest. MININC is arranging some sort of dinner so more details on that soon.

Just spoke to Victory - 11th at 11am is free. I have tentativly booked it for 10-15. We can increase or decrease the numbers as needed.

Minimenc Pls remove me from that list. since i work nights on the weekends i couldnt make this event. i will keep my date of Jan. 18 for my karting event anyway just because its a normal day i go to G-force. Hope this didnt cause to much confusion. Hopefully one day we can both meet up and burn up the tracks. BTW I heard Victory has Indivisal Transponder on the Karts so the Driver can see there lap times while driving on the Kart. Until then Have fun, be safe and Keep Motov8n
