Just for Mini-Coopers, a car care/detailing seminar will be held on Saturday, February 15. This is a group participation event where you will have the opportunity to:

-Learn how to use Clay Bar
-Detail your own car in a heated environment
-Ask questions about Do's & Dont's
-Meet other owners

The location for this event is:

Import Paint and Body Shop
6173 E. Independence Blvd.
Charlotte, NC

Starting time is 9AM, and we will finish by mid-afternoon. Bring your own detailing supplies!

We need a reasonably good estimate of the number of cars and people attending, so please reply here if you plan to participate.

More information may be coming, so check this post for future updates. Please feel free to email or call me if you have any questions at all.

I still plan on coming since the date was changed. As you may remember, I'll just be a fly on the wall. My MCS will not be here until Jun/July, but I am very interested in learning how to detail the car once it arrives, and I'm interested in seeing how Zainos performs.

Here is the hotel information for any of the out of town MINIs that will need a place to stay.

The hotel is the Wingate Inn on Speedway Blvd. at exit 49 at I85. It is a great place to stay. We used the hotel for the Charlotte Kart Outing several weeks ago and all that stayed were pleased. Speedway Blvd. has Concord Mills Outlet Mall and about every place to eat you could want.

speedway blvd. is a kinda cool touristy place for out of town people but, not close to independence blvd. by any means. it is however close to Dale E. Jr.s place. he lives across the street from DEI. guess what kind of car he has? i'm sure he has a lot of cars but. he's got a dark silver MCS with dark tint. maybe ya'll should ride by there if there's time. wish i could join you at the event but i'll be out of town working. if you can drop me a line afterwords and let me know about the products. so far i'm all zymol.

You are right Speedway Blvd. is a cool place and it is not super close to Independence Blvd. There is not too many nice hotels on Independence Blvd. I live close to Speedway Blvd. and will be glad to lead a morning caravan from the Wingate to the body shop. I know a back way that wont take too long.

You are also right about Dale, Jr. having a DS/B MCS. I had lunch at DEI on Friday. That place is beyond description. I was a guest of Stevie Reeves. Steve is a former 2 time National Sprint Car Champion and NASCAR Busch Series Driver. I worked on Stevie's pit crew for 2 years in the Busch Series as his catch can man. Stevie is now Steve Park's spotter on race day and works at the shop on the #15 car during the week.

When I pulled in to park at DEI I received several quick waves from some cars heading out for lunch. I was driving my DS/B MCS. I am sure they thought it was Dale, Jr's. MINI. Stevie told me that he drives it a lot. I thought that is pretty cool when you figure he can drive any car that he wants. I heard he has a nice Z7 truck, a Vette, an Esclade and a MINI. I wish he had been there but he was not. They said he was at Rockingham testing.

Stevie said that he would tell him that I had a MINI like his. I wish we could talk him into a MINI outing.

Finally, your also right a drive past his shop after the seminar would be a great idea.

There is still room for a few more cars to participate. We do need a reasonably firm count by mid-week so that final arrangements can be made. If you were thinking of dropping by particularly to learn about clay bar, we should be on the first car with clay by 9:45 or so. It doesn't take long to clay a Mini...30 minutes or less.

Import Paint and Body is on the left going out of town on Independence Blvd. Useful landmarks to help you find it are: Beck Mercedes, Hendrick Lexus, and Rhodes Furniture. Use the left turn lane at Rhodes to make a u-turn followed by an almost immediate right to Import Paint. Call the number in the signature block if you need more assistance.

All Minis are welcome, even if you prefer some other product.

Just wanted to let you know that we're still "On" for this event...rain or shine. Please bring an adequate number of towels, at least 4 or 5. If you plan to use a product other than Zaino, kindly bring your own. Zaino will be available for those who wish to use it.
