Offline | MINI not welcome!! Just got the info for the British car gathering in Townsend Tn. on May 3rd. 2003 and it seems that it has been stated by Carolyn Henriksen, secretary of Blount British Cars, that the new Mini will not be welcome at this show.No mention of new Landrovers or Jags. |

Offline | That is not good!? Is it because the parent company is BMW? If so, then as you say, what about the 'Fords' they have not apparently 'banned'. There loss I would say. |

Offline | Myself and couple of other people with new MINIs were made very welcome at the British Car Day at Bronte (near Toronto) last Fall and we actually got more attention than most of the Mini Classics. The Classic guys were all interested and glad to see us. I think a 'formal' protest should be made directly to these guys plus a letter to British Car Magazine - who also acknowledge the MINI as British aka KWKSLVR Member: Southern Ontario MINI Club BMW Club of Canada - Trillium Chapter |

Offline | Personally, i don't see why it matters. Why do you guys care one way or the other? It's not like you don't have enough guys to go motoring with that you have to crash a show that you know you're not invited to attend. Me, I might go to see all the cool cars, but I wouldn't insist on participating if it's been made clear that I'm not welcome. I can't imagine a more uncomfortable day. |

Offline | Just go as spectators and make sure you all park in the same place... If a lot of people go to look at the corral of MINIs, maybe next year they'll allow this British car to join in. |

Offline | Too bad for those folks. I participated in a British Car Show in North Florida and got loads of attentions from participants and attendees alike and even won Third Place in my division (1990 - Present), got beat by a Jag convertable and a Lotus. I'd say drive by and park together and watch all the folks come by to look at the 'British'car ![]() |

| MINI2 Senior | Without tongue in cheek... All joking aside, I've been dismayed by the backlash out of some of the Classic Mini folks, and just viewed this as one more manifestation of that. But in looking at the website for this group it is apparent that this show is pretty big, and is dedicated to classic British Cars. I think what they were saying was that their response is huge for the show part of the event and they would not be accepting the new MINI in the show part. It is not just some cruise-in that you can participate in by showing up. If I was in the area, I would cruise on down to check out all the cars. Dave Gotten anything useful from MINI2? How about giving a little something back? '03 MCS BRG/W Anthracite Pkg 1,2,3 |

Offline | As many New Minis should get together and converge on the british car gathering in Townsend and totally over whelm the organizers. Yes, it would spoil there meet but it would get the point across. Charles BRG/W MCS |

Offline | I say to hell with them. Here is a chance for them to have a whole new generation of folks join their fold, who normally might not have been British Car enthusiasts. Instead of embracing these newbies, they choose to snub them. If they don't want to make new friends with a lot of the new MINI folks, then good ridance! Us MINI folks will get along fine with each others company...Thank You! |

Offline | Here's how I've seen it done. A few people who own British cars think they should start a car show. They invite everyone who has a British car. The first year only a few cars show up. Each year a few more show up. Soon they have over a hundred cars participating in 'their' show. It is a that time that they start to think that they are bigger than the show. Now the rules start to kick in and this car and that car are not allowed. This is when their show will start to go downhill. You see there will be participants in the show who concider the New MINI should be there. And in the future these participants will not continue to support 'their' show. Time for the New MINI folks to plan something on that date and invite everyone, that will show them! |
