Green Cooper Italian Job get together - RTP

I'm drumming up interest for a gathering for the opening night of the Italian Job (5-30-03) in the RTP area. I have heard rumours of Flow arranging something but nothing is firm yet.

Plan a) Head up to Flow for whatever they organise, possible convoy opportunity.

Plan b) Get enough people together in our area (10 at least) and then speak to a local movie theater about preferred parking (think rows of shiny Mini's at the front of the parking lot). I was thinking about the new theatre at Briar Creek Commons (540 & 70) which opens later this month - large screens, reclining seats, internet reservations (no, I'm not affiliated, just love movies).

Anyway, if you interested, polish the Mini, brush up on your Micheal Caine accent and let me know! (and if you know anything about the Flow arrangements, please post here).

Count me in, Briar Creek Commons would be perfect.

I'd be interested in coming from Richmond as I could stay with my parents in Durham.

I'd be interested iin coming down for this from VA too. I was thinking of going to the Italian Job Rally in DC, but this would actually be much closer for me.

Count me in

I'm most interested. I just downloaded the trailer from here: http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramo...0_trailer.html

It seems that there's gold and Minis, other than that, it seems to bear little resemblance to the original. At least we should be surprised by the plot twists...

I need to take my Cooper back to Flow for a recall notice and couple of other little things so going back W-S works for me too.

Here's my suggestion. We get the News & Observer to run a picture of our cars sitting out in front of one of the local theaters along with their review of the movie. In return, the theater gives us all free passes to the film with a bucket of popcorn & a soda to boot

Sound great Jarrett, now all you need to do is contact the N&O.

Jarrett -PM me or post here if you find anything out. I'd like to wait until we have a decent size group before speaking to the movie theater or the press, if you don't mind. I'd just like to have a large enough group where it doesn't look like 3 guys and a cool car ;-)

So, all you lurkers out there, register your interest!

Don't you mean 3 guys and 3 cool cars?

I'll do a little research and see if I can find some contacts for the N&O on their website, but I'll hold off until we get a good size group.

BTW, I was running a poll on this topic about where in the southeast to meet for a movie premiere party and there were only 3 votes for Raleigh so maybe it is just 3 guys and 3 cool cars.

Sheez, you guys (and your Mini) are so literal. We ALL have cool cars, and you don't need me to tell you THAT!

Yes, the RTP responses of late have been poor. I know of at least 5 Mini2'ers around here who I've not seen comments from. Not to say that they should - it's their own choice if they don't want to participate. I just know they are out there, somewhere!

I'll also speak to Lee Davis at Flow and see what he has going on about the movie.

(I didn't see that poll - I'll go and look for it now).

OK, OK, reduce your count to 4 MINI2-ers that you haven't heard from.
;-)

I'd be interested in any of the local theaters, as long as it's not a Carmike (if you love movies, you'll already know why). Not really up for a trip to W-S for this.

You know, with SARS and war and depression and American Airlines bankruptcy, we could probably just go on priceline and get $50 dollar tickets on that daily direct flight to Gatwick from Raleigh... Hmmm...

Hey... I'm one of the 5 unheard of MINI owners...

Count me in!!!

Just waiting to hear from MiniShuttle...
I know he's been busy on the rivers, so he hasn't checked the boards recently.

If wjarretc calls the N&O I'll call The Apex Herald. ;-)

OK Guys, only 2 more needed :-)

Current list as follows:

MINIMENC
CHARPER
MARKIE
S2000&CooperS
VAMINI
WJARRETTC
CHIPH
MINITIGER

I agree with Chip's sentiment - I would prefer not to go to Winston Salem.

Sounds like things are starting to take shape. If we go to Briar Creek Commons perhaps we can do dinner at Bob Evans?
