MINI Drive-In movie near Charlotte, NC

I was just reading a thread Mid-Atlantic forum regarding a MINI get together at a drive-in movie theatre. A short search produced a drive-in movie theatre in Belmont, NC http://belmontdrivein.20megsfree.com/index.htm It would be cool if we can have a similar MINI event some Friday or Saturday summer evening as those in the Baltimore area. Please be patient with the slow loading of their site.

I think that's a great idea Janibird. Maybe combined with a short drive? Do people have tailgate parties at the drive in?

Just popping in here for a minute, I know that most drive-ins, like the one up here, are very strick about what you can and cannot do on their property

The drive-in we are going to does NOT allow you to bring any type of food, drink, etc. On their web site, it lays out all the rules.

So check for a web site and see what they say. No tailgate party for us I'm afraid

Chow!

Their web site states that one is not allowed to bring ones own food and beverage supplies since their snack bar is an essential revenue stream important for their survival. The site makes the snack bar menu available, the selection seems to be adequate, and pricing quite reasonable. Just remember this is about MINI socializing and a movie, not the food. Hope the Carolinas MINI club forming around here will pick this thread.

Janibird,

This drive-in is very close to where I live. I live just down the road in Cramerton, NC. This drive-in is a real classic. The snack bar is fine. They often times will run three movies a session. It's quite a bargain, really, if you can manage to stay awake through all three movies.

We usually bring a throw and watch the movie on the ground. Good point about the COOL evening. It gets really hot in the summer and uncomfortable.

This place is very popular. Lines start forming before sun-down.

Thanks for posting the idea. It's a really good one.

BTW, I pick up my CR/W MCS tomorrow! Woohooo.

See ya,
JS

Me and my wife go to the Badin Road Drive In Theater in Albemarle, NC. It is set up on a hillside in a stadium style layout, so you can easily see over the people in front of you. The sound comes through your own car stereo, so the movie will sound as good as a theater. They have 3 movies for $6 a car load. They even play BINGO during the intermissions

We plan on going in the next month, I will post on here when.
