Everyone's invited to Drive In Movie Night in Blue Ridge Georgia.

Here's the Details:

Remember the good ‘ol days of settin in car on a crisp October evening at the Drive In and watching a movie (or pretending to anyway) with your best gal? I don’t. They tore most of them down by the time I was old enough to drive. However, there are 4 drive-in’s still remaining in the state of Georgia and on October 25th, new memories will be created as the British will be invading the Swan Drive-in located in Blue Ridge Georgia. The Swan Drive-In, built in 1955 shows first run movies in a fun and friendly atmosphere that is full of nostalgia.

We will be meeting at Old Town Country Restaurant, 2.5 miles west of Downtown Cumming, GA on GA 20 @ 11:00am for an early lunch. Address for the restaurant is 1605 Canton Highway (GA20) Cumming and their website is at: http://www.oldtowncountryrestaurant.com. Plan on packing a picnic basket, as we’ll be eating dinner at the Drive In before the movie. We’re being allowed in early at the theater so that we can all park together and have some time for dinner. We’re going to park as a group on the front row so that SUV’s and pickups don’t block us. Remember couples, there will be children behind us, so keep the necking down to a PG13 level unless you want to park on the back row. Also, the drive in has a concession stand that has Pizza, Hot Dogs and Hamburgers in addition to the normal fare. We’ll be taking a scenic route to the drive in and a couple of bathroom breaks will be built in along the way.

We have a deal setup with the Swan whereby only the driver of two seat cars will be charged. Your passenger will get in for free. Admission will be $5.00. There will be at least two features shown that night and possibly a 3rd. Those that would like to call it an early night and head back will be able to leave and return to Atlanta via 575, which is only about a mile from the theater. It should take about an hour to an hour an half to return to the Northern suburbs. For those that wish to stay in Blue Ridge after the movie, we have a group rate of $69 a night at the nearby Ramada Limited. To get this rate, you must contact the Ramada at (706)-632-4444 and ask for Melanie. Tell her you are with the Georgia Triumph Association and would like the $69 rate. I would suggest doing this sooner rather than later as this is the high season and rooms are at a premium. I have 15 rooms reserved, but if it looks as though they’re not going to all get sold, we may release some of these rooms closer to the event. We need to have at least 10 in order to get the group rate.

I would highly suggest bringing some warm blankets, lawn chairs, thermos and a portable radio if your car doesn’t have one. The Swan broadcasts the audio track on 105.5FM. We won’t know till the week of the event what the movies being shown will be. However if you’d like to check, the Swan’s website is at http://www.swan-drive-in.com/ I can tell you they are usually first run flicks and most of the time, are a couple of the top 5 movies. Please send me a note at Jeremy@Whitehead.com if you’re planning on going so I can have an idea of how many we have. This will a joint run with the other Atlanta area clubs so all are invited. Feel free to pass the word along and invite anyone you like. Even if you’d like to just join us on the drive without going to the movies, you’re welcome to come along.
