My wife and I are planning a road trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway in early October (unfortunately, we'll be in a rental car and not in my MCS

). Looking for some advice and info on nice drives/things to do from the collective motoring crowd - we plan to head as far down as the Asheville area at this point. I know a little bit about the Dragon, but not much else in the area. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Noam - you have a great trip coming. We did the same trip with a Corvette Club a few years back. You can see many colors around Asheville, however many folks continue south to the Pigeon Forge area. For you, you'd probably want to go south through Asheville through Cherokee and continue to PF. One possible suggestion for you, if you haven't been there, the Biltmore Estate is a must see, and if you want a really nice place to stay for the night in Asheville (translate really nice as NOT inexpensive), this is the place. We stayed a few years ago and we remember more about the Estate than the leaf change! If you need more specifics, let me know. Regards, Rich

Hey! We LIVE in Western NC!! We like to say we're in Watauga County, but most folks are familar with our area through knowing of the town of Boone. THIS is the place to be in Western NC. Not as crowded as the Asheville area! Some GREAT drives - Linville Viaduct, Grandfather Mountain, Beech Mountain, etc. Wonderful places to stay, lots of fantastic traditional mountain music & mountain farm heritage. Very authentic & way less commercial than Asheville & Pigeon Forge, IMNSHO! Email me, and I'll fix you up!

We are having the NC High Country Leaf MINI Rally here on October 23d - wonderful event. I'm new to MINI2, so haven't yet figured out how to post the event here. Check out events on the MINIUSA Owners Lounge in the meantime!
