I saw those series of photos in Hackberry, AZ...seems like a fascinating little stop through Old Rte66. I would loved to have done some part of the MTTS. Lucky you.

You know there are so many fascinating places along Route 66. The biggest treat is to stop and talk to some of the people that live along this famous stretch of roadway. The stories they have to tell about the history of this highway are incredible. Fireball Tim and his crew spend quite a bit of time at the Hackberry general store filming and interviewing the proprietor.

I decided to spend some time speaking to Angel Delgadillo, the retired barber in Seligman. Himself along with a small group of people worked for ten years to get the state to recognize Route 66 as an historic roadway. He grew up in Seligman, AZ so he was able to witness first hand the drastic change that took place in the small towns along Route 66 when I-40 was opened up and most all travellers chose the more speedy route across Arizona bypassing the small towns that once hosted everyone who traveled cross country by motorcar. I could listen to his stories for hours, and what better way than to have him give you a haircut while he is telling his stories. He saw the MINIS speeding through town and wondered why more didn't stop.

I told him my wife and I will be back next May for the annual Route 66 Fun Run. So we went across the street and made reservations for a room next May. Lucky for us as they only had one room left!
