Info: May 3rd is the Rally, starting at Mini of North Scottsdale. They are arranging lots of interesting things for us BEFORE the Rally. Even a catered lunch. Also the chance to take a ride on their new test track which isn't officially open yet. You can arrive there any time from 10am onwards, enjoy their attractions, have some lunch, take in a fashion show, and be ready for the driver's meeting in the conference room at 2pm. Please pass the word along to those who may not receive these mailings as ALL cars are welcome to join the Arizona Mini Owners for this very different event. You can get the registration form here.
Okay, more info on the May 3rd rally starting at MINI of N. Scottsdale. Along with the other activities, I'm being told that there will be drivers from the United Auto race teams on hand to give people rides in their race cars around the test track. There is also a Roger Penske race car museum close by for those of you that are Penske race fans. The parts dept. is suppose to have discounts on parts and accesories that day. More info will be forth comming as MNS is suppose to do a mass mailing to everyone who has purchased a MINI form them. This looks to be a big event, hope everyone in the Phx. metro area can attend. You do not have to be a member of a car club to attend. Just get your entry form from the Arizona Mini Owners website and get it mailed in now!
I'm in having my coolant tank updated, and there's no test track!? Strangely invisible.
Urg... they're charging me to program the comfort opening.
Urg... the Toyota Corrola they've provided is disgusting filthy inside!
Urg... I was first in and car won't be ready until 5:30!~
'nuff belching, I did hear that the second generation Borla has tiny little mufflers and sounds great! Louder than first gen. Same car was said to have the reduced pulley and dynoed at 203.
Sorry, not thread hijacking but thought the track note to belong. Still hoping there's a good turnout on the 3rd. Where are all of you MINI2 AZ miniacs?
I fought the dealership to have my options programmed. They didn't ask me when I picked it up so why should I have to pay. And I feel the same as you. I am getting sick of their service at that dealership. See my other thread: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...hreadid=28636.
The little racetrack is behind all of the dealerships. The Land Rover dealership uses it too.
Finally... got the car back at 6.
Two minor items to be repaired were the bonnet badge being loose in the middle (bowed away), and the front lower grill tab refusing to seat into the bottom trim.
There was glue on the paint surrounding the bonnet badge (which was still bowed), and I'd swear that they had attempted to superglue the grill leaving discoloration on the trim! Very underwhelmed by my first service visit. It took them 10 hours to do a half arsed job. The reported second class citizen BMW/MINI syndrome I suppose.
At least I've got the updated coolant tank and programmed windows... and now a trim piece on order. Guess I 'll address the programming charge after they mail my receipt (yes, the compters were broken) and our sales person is back from vacation.
Still going to the rally! Whoo hoo! got my Whalen shift machine too!
Also that weekend is the Grand Am Cup race at PIR. It is Friday, 5/2 at 6 pm. There will be several MINI Cooper S cars from the East running in the ST1 class.
Its beginning to look like they are no MINIs entered in the Grand Am Cup race Friday night at PIR. However, there will be some participating in the NASA events on Sat. and Sun. at the new AMP track on W. Camelback.
I would just like to inform the MINI2 community of the rally at MINI North Scottsdale on May 3rd. We will be hosting a reunion/party for all MINI owners and enthusiasts on Saturday May 3rd. The event will be catered, so we ask that you RSVP the invitation that you were mailed, by no later than April 30th to ensure that we have enough food for everyone.
We will have our MINI race cars on display, however we will not be able to give demo rides since the MINI owners attending the party will be parking their vehicles on our race track. Motoring gear and vehicle accessories will be on display and discounted at the party. We will have MINI techs on hand to talk to and they will be available for installation of any vehicle accessories purchased at the party time permitting. Accessories purchased at the party may also be installed at a later date and time if that is more convenient. MINI North Scottsdale will be hosting the AMO (Arizona MINI Owners) club meeting. The AMO club will be meeting at our dealership and inviting MINI owners to join their Non competitive rally leaving the dealership promptly at 2:30 and traveling through some very fun and beautiful roads just outside of Phoenix and ending in Mesa. They are asking for those interested to contact Shirley at 480-985-2431 ASAP as space is limited. We at MINI North Scottsdale will be hosting a drive to PIR to take to two “victory”laps around the track minutes before the main event on Saturday night. What a great sight it will be to see the LONG line of MINI’s taking laps together on the track in front of the packed stands of people there to see the main race event! Perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity! The first groups of people to RSVP their invitation will be eligible to request two tickets for skybox seating for the main event on Saturday night. Special parking will also be offered for those participating in the drive. Tickets are limited and will be given out on a first come first serve basis so hurry and RSVP your invitation. Those who haven’t received an invitation and would like to participate in the party must contact us at 480-538-6401 and inform us of your wish to attend and that you haven’t received an invitation. Thanks, we look forward to seeing you on Saturday!
Wow!
Got our "oFishAl iNvite" today and rsvp'd (for the PIR event too). We're also signed up for the Az Mini Owners rally. Can't be two places at once, but really want to do the PIR thing so it appears we may have to bow out of our first AZ Mini Owners event. Tough life to have such choices eh?!
SIGH...
I hope you clubsters will let us tag along to Prescott through Yarnell in May!
Boy, you guys really beleive in waiting to the last minute.
I thought I had all the info that was out there on this meet and greet thing. A run to PIR is a tough choice over the rally, but getting my MINI on the Track is way worth it! Looks to be a great photo oportunity.
