Offline | Mini Club? I've been waiting for months for someone (wish i had the leadership) to organize one. Heck, I've even offered to just meet for lunch or dinner somewhere. I'm still up for it and the Mini Rally has me all juiced up to do more. Let's do it ya'll! Cooper S, EB/B, Premium / Sport / Cold Packages, R90's and Aero Kit |

Offline | Someone at the MINI meet last week (Italian Job) took names of those interested in an Austin MINI club. A bunch of people signed up - but I don't know the follow up or who was taking the names. Does anyone know? james 2003 LY/W MCS, pulley, H-Sport, Alta intake, Alta Sway, Kosei K1 |

Offline | I'm all for the Austin, Texas metro area forming a MINI club, but..... Call it the "MINI club of Austin", or the "Austin area MINI club", or the "Capital MINI club" or something similar, but please don't call it the "Austin Mini" club! It will only confuse some people and anger others - (especially the classic British car crowd and classic Mini owners) You see, the name "Austin Mini" has a very specific meaning in the world of MiNiS. When the classic Mini was first launched in 1959, it was sold under the Austin and Morris brands. Saying Austin Mini is like saying Ford Mustang, it goes together and means just one thing - a particular kind of car. There are more than 4 decades of history that lead to the words Austin Mini meaning only this: + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed |

Offline | I don't care what we call it... The Austin Mini Club title is just the play on words that would make it unique to Austin, Texas and deservedly so. But I understand what you are saying Bruce. No one is here to ruffle any feathers. Besides I don't think I'd want the initials of AMC connected to MY Mini anyway. Offline | Thought I'd put this in here as well- We're having a rally this weekend starting from San Antonio: OK y'all - Meet at 7:45am on June 22 in the parking lot of the Target at Blanco Road and Loop 1604. We will head out about 8am or so to the Hill country and will stop a few times for a stretch etc. We will stop also for a lunch/brunch (depending on what time it is) in either Luckenbach or at the Wildseed Farms in/near Fredericksberg. From then on, which is optional, we will head further north and then back south ending up in Gruene mid/late afternoon. Eating/visiting there is optional as well. Bring a full tank of gas, as we will end up going almost 300 miles for the full route. Also, probably a good idea to bring some cash; we won't see many towns, and the one's we will are S M A L L. I will pass out directions and a map when we meet. Sound OK? Derek Derek |

| MINI2 Newbie | I'd love to see a club form too. Does anyone interested have the knowledge and skills (and desire) to begin?? I didn't know anyone was taking names and number at the Italian Job event. Bruce, were you there? I didn't see you. Anyone going to the San Antonio run tomorrow morning? Michele |

Offline | I will not be driving an Austin Mini, so I'd prefer the club NOT be named that! Just because our city's name is Austin is no reason to butcher up the name of the club trying to be a "play on words"... Austin Powers is a play on words! There are many communities that would support a MINI club for the Austin area - even as far away as San Antonio - so I vote for "Austin Area Mini Club" the AAMC ! "Mr Bridger" |

| MINI2 Newbie | I'll help I used to run a geek club here in Austin, but gave up on it when the market crashed and it became an unemployment club. ![]() I'm not overjoyed at leading another club, but if that's what it would take to get one here in Austin, I'm game. Anyone can message me and we'll get this party started! Dawn |
