Yellow Cooper AZ area Fun Run --Saturday August 2nd, 2003 --Show Low & Payson

Back by popular demand!

Starting in Tempe (PHX suburb) heading out the 60 to Globe and then up to Show Low for lunch. Taking the 260 (many twisties) over to Payson. Depending upon time or desire, head back to PHX area via the 87. If we go North from Payson on the 87 we can catch the 260 again to the I-17, or take the 87 southbound (lots of cool tight twisties) all the way back into PHX. This will be a great run to escape the heat of the Valley of the Sun!

Keep checking back as additional information on a meeting point will be discussed.

Meeting at Denny's on Power Rd and the US 60 for a 8:00 AM departure. We're leaving early so we can be back in time for a British car show that evening in the Mesa area. It will make for a great all day event with the fun run then the car show. I'm working on getting the specifics for the car show.

I just ran thru the numbers it looks like 150 miles to Show Low, then 90 miles to Payson, then 80 miles back to Mesa. And it appears most of it is twisties, oh yea! I forsee many happy motoring miles on this fun run!

Priorities, girl, priorities.

Hey, I was down at the Pavillions with my MINI on Saturday. One of the coordinators there had many good things to say about your MINI.

He was probably the father or brother of the guy that did my interior. They run the security at the show.

Here's a message from Pat.

"Hey everybody the Cruise-In after the Fun Run on Saturday August 2nd is accross the street from the Denny's. It is similiar to the Pavillions show in Scottsdale. Except on the first Saturday night of the month they feature British Cars. In the past we have had a good turnout of both New and Classic MInis. If you want to go let me know(email) so I can contact the organizers. That way they can allot enough parking spaces together for us. This is a good place to 'wind down' and talk about the days run. Hope to see everyone on the 2nd of August."

So it looks like we can coordinate or arrival time back in the PHX area to coincide with this.

Sorry we didn't make it around the lake to the car show, but we had to get on home to tend to the animals. It was great to meet everyone!

Just a few pics... I know others will have more of the cars.

A message from the Lotus dude!
------------------------------

Dom,

Please forward this to the Mini folks.

Here are some sites with info on "arrive and drive" programs.
http://www.nasa-az.org/nasa/index.htm
http://www.scca.org/
http://www.azsportsracing.org/front.asp
http://www.az-region-scca.org/
http://www.proautosports.com/ARIZONA.html

Most require some type of membership dues, but they are all a relatively
inexpensive way to get track time.

This is the event that let's you get a lot of track time, and it's $195.00.
A lot of fun, and very safe, lot's of room for run-off, and the people are
there to have fun, unlike some others series where politics ruin the fun.
It's the one I recommend.

From the "odd-one-out" Lotus dude.

Enjoyed hanging with you guys on Saturday, thanks for letting me tag along.

Mark
