Offline | A sunroof in Phoenix...a bad idea? I'll be moving back to Phoenix next summer and I have just ordered an 05' MCS. My one major conflict is whether to get the sunroof or not. I know how hot it gets - I lived there for 5 years - but I wasn't old enough to drive a car at the time. So - do any Phoenix Mini owners have or even USE their sunroof or is the A/C on all the time? I know it'll be really nice to have open October through March but the rest of the year is what I want to know about. Any thoughts? |

Offline | Summer evenings or early morning are the perfect time for the sunroof to be open, but not during the day! I live in Tucson, and we cool off a bit more than Phoenix does at night. We had the same hesitation as you, plus my wifes car is a convertible Mustang, so if we really wanted open air motoring we could use her car. So the sunroof thing wouldn't be that big of a deal. We got the sunroof anyway. |

Offline | Sunroof in Phoenix ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would without hesitation! I just ordered my 05 MCS (Nov '04 delivery) with the sunroof. If you leave the car out in the sun in the middle of summer, it will not matter if you have a sunroof or not. In the Autumn (can I say there even is one?) and the Spring time are the times to have the windows down and the sunroof open! Living in Phoenix for 27 years now, you get used to it, as you will remember! Hope this helps! |

Offline | I live in florida and got my MINI in May. I can't say I have had my lid open a whold lot as it is hot as a mutha. But I do like the see thru top the sunroof gives me. I really haven't noticed sun sun beating down on me a whole lot. I am really satisfied. I cant' wait for the winter so I can open it a bunch and let the wind blow across my bald head. |

Offline | Thanks for the new comments. My 05' MCS has already been built and is on its way over here now. My ultimate decision was to go without it largely due to the money and weight savings. I know they can really make a car a much better driving experience but in the end I decided to leave it off my options list. |
