Offline | Where to find Helmets in SoCal? Hi Everyone, Any suggestions as to where i can try on/buy SA200 approved helmets in Southern California? We've got lots of tracks, but where are the track safety supplies? Thus far I've only found one shop with helmets approved for cars. SimpsonWorld. (Very nice, but awfully pricey) I've visited numerous Pro-Shops which advertise performance car accessories, but only sell helmets for Mortorcycles. Yes, I will drive far for a good fit & nice service ![]() Any help in this matter would be greatly apprecieted. Last edited by phubear : Sep 4th, 2003 at 06:53 PM. |

Offline | Simpson World had very nice service, but the starting price was a little too high considering that they did not have as snug a fit as the G-Force 750 (Open Face) with their full face helmets. I know that the Simpson composite is supposed to better than most though. The GF 750 is about $149 and the Simpson Voyager started at $300. The other factors that made the sale for me was the 4 exit vents, the well supported cheek pads, and the SA2000 certification which is painted on the rear of the helmet and then clear coated to prevent ware. They (Simpson) also tried the hard-sell for the full face claiming that the open face will be outlawed soon. I ended up at High Tech Performance in Van Nuys. They were very courteous, and very patient unlike Sube Sports. I tend to prefer the "mom & pop" (or in this case brother & brother) places more because they seem to care more about what is appropriate for the individual rather than selling extraneous accessories. |

Offline | thats cool... in my racing days Simpson tended to be a lot less pushy, a little more interested in the customers use... and somewhat more affordable... wear the new one in good health! ![]() Trust not the heart of a man for whom old clothes, and the Mini, are not venerable! |

Offline | Thanks mrhollio, I will wear it in good health....or at least try to stay alive on the track. Just found an interesting factor. It seems that the vents in helmets are not only for cooling, but also to theoretically flush any flammables like petrol out of the it if the driver is flipped upside-down. |
