Offline | oil change in la Hey guys, I'm a bit desperate, and I searched thr forum and didn't find the info I seek. My mini desperately needs an oil change, and I don't have much free time to do it myself. Does anyone know of a non-dealer shop in Los Angeles that could do it? I've called around and the dealers all seem to have 3 week backlogs, and I haven't found any independents to do it. Any direction you could point me would be greatly appreciated. |

Offline | What do you mean desperately needs an oil change? According to BMW you only need oil changes at the regualr service, like 10k, 25k etc (not that I personally follow this schedule). You are not trying to skip a regular service are you? Or is this an "extra" optional oil change. Have you tried Long beach MINI? They are usually very good about getting one in for service (unlike the dealer that shares a name with one of the film studios). ![]() |

| M5 Extraordinare! | You mean Universal? hahah Ya goto Long Beach MINI... why dont u want to goto the dealer and want to goto an independent place? I took mine to Long Beach at 1300miles and it was a walk in and it took them 45mins or so. and it was under $60 so no biggie... oil and filter would have costed me around $45 alone so. |

Offline | well i have written this story many times at mco. i went to universal first, and they had a 4K markup with lojack and crap. so i went to nick alexander, and there was a 7K markup..well i came back to universal and after talking to them for about 2 hours they said "yes we can get you a car wtihout the lojack and all that", and i asked how much, and it was msrp. and i negotiated to get teh floormats thrown in. sure they might gouge like some other dealerships do (imo nick alexander is the worst), but there are people who have had good experiences, thats all i was trying to say. spycar--i have met you in person, and your an aweseom guy. differnt people have different experiences, and i respect that ![]() gmini--i never take any offense, it took about 2.5 hours of negotiating. then again i got my uncles 2003 honda accord v6 for him for 17.5K so people dont believe that either. i am a cheap skate asian negotiate like no other kind of guy ![]() ucsd--4 is how many i know. there are other people who bought at msrp, then i have a friend on mco, who paid 6K markup on a USED MCS..yeah dont ask...so diff people have different experiences. i was not going to buy a car out of state, when i could get the dealer in my backyard to get me the car i wanted at msrp. ![]() 2003 CR MCS and 2007 CR MCS (on order) |

| M5 Extraordinare! | Ya.. there are always the few.. the lucky few that get things their way at any place... but majority dont... so that kinda makes universal and other dealers that do mark up have a bad reputation... of course there are always good experiences too and I'm sure Long Beach have had some bad experiences... especially with ppl not wanting to wait so long on the wait list. |

Offline | Ryan also has the advantage of having been a car salesman. I've had lovely experiences w/ Irvine Mini. They were selling MC's for no markup, no haggle, and the manager went out of his way to help me w/ my stubborn credit union during the car loan process. |

Offline | Actually, I was never a car salesman ![]() I worked at Acura for a while, and it was in the corporate world, where we got training in sales, marketing, advertising, and some manufacturing design process I just wanted to clarify that. Its because I am a cheap ass Asian car enthusiast..hehe..thats why I get good deals ![]() 2003 CR MCS and 2007 CR MCS (on order) |

| TEAM MIGHTY MINIZ | Go to Long Beach MINI, but don't let them wash your car! When I went in for an oil change, they washed it very poorly and covered it in swirl marks. To their credit, they offered to polish out the swirls for me, but I ended up just doing it myself. Confidence in them restored. Last edited by iDiaz : Jan 14th, 2004 at 05:52 AM. |

Offline | Universal sucks...unproffesional salesman (ie..stoner Mark) that had to check the website to see that a MCS isnt available in cosmo black! the service dept? forget about it..what a bunch of ass*****. I purposelly went there to talk to the showroom manager and ask a simple question about the remote only to be given wrong info (yet again) and got to show them the MCS I saved 6K on by not buying thru them.. I used the extra money I saved to get my car fuly loaded w/ options! =-) I would rather pay to change the oil myself than get them to do it for free. (they would probably screw something up anyway) to each his own though. right |
