Howdy All,

Well, I finally bit the bullet and retired my ten year old VW Jetta and got myself a new Mini last weekend. A plain ol' 2004 Cooper and it's automatic. Yes, that's the extent of my girlishness, I don't drive stick.

My question is as follows: I want to paint the car. I know you're all having heart attacks at the moment, and I don't blame you, and you may want to avert your eyes for this next bit, because I can't be responsible for your health. I want to paint the car pink.

Now that you've come to, I will not be talked out of this. Well, not the color choice, anyway. I know it'll probably hurt my resale value, but I don't plan on reselling the car. You can try to talk me out of the whole painting-a-new-car thing, but dammit, I want a pink Mini. And I have a tendency to get a bit Veruca Salt over things. See above remark re: girlishness.

And hey, one of the icon choices above is a pink Cooper. So there! And yes, I'm awfully mature for 31, don't you think?

I want the best possible job done, so any recommendations on people in SoCal? And any idea what I'm looking at, pricewise?

wow, that's bold. if your gonna do that why not just make it pink flames coming off the front end. that would look cool.

actually there has been a mini painted pink in hawaii.

i live in so cal, and have gotten a few good paint jobs done on cars before

you are looking at aabout 4-6K for a good quality job

about 2K for average

It's sort of like a tattoo; you don't want one yourself, but it's quite fun to see it on others.

MINI(s) are all about individuality right?
(hope painting doesn't void the warranty though...)

These nice folks fixed up my SlkGrn Cooper when the tailgate was bashed in by an SUV. As you may have guessed, they specialize in insurrance repairs. They did however, have to blend the paint from quarter panels to the tailgate which looks seamless :-)

Some friends/family members have has success with fixing a few vintage Mazdas.
The paint jobs i've seen look pretty good.

How about a more "Magenta" colour since pink has already been done?
Was it going to be a pink roof & mirrors too?
What about the grille? Matching seat covers & wheels too?
You might as well go all the way on this one.

Might i suggest pink w/ a black roof or maybe pink with a black/white checkered roof. I think would look very unique. Mini's are all about self expression. Go for it.
