Offline | hey Zeede.. if they can make it..bring 'em along. did you guys read the comments on Tuna Cyn in the link that Nullty posted? wow..I agree with what they said about it..but I had no idea that it had that kinda reputaion. 2500 ft descent in 4.5 miles! that's kinda steep. I did see a few twigs.branches at the bottom of Tuna Cyn on my way down..nothing I couldnt avoid..but I stopped to clear them out of the way for the next person to come thru..just to be nice. Latigo was a blast..and that was uphill..going down must be even better. |

Offline | I had a great time meeting and chatting it up w/ all of you! It's a pity my driving skills are not quite up to your levels (as my little traction crisis so nicely illustrated), but I appreciated your patience w/ me ![]() Lil' Octane, can you put up the video clip of my Mini off-roading excursion? ![]() |

Offline | Hey Zeede.. Nice to meet you. I'm glad you made it out..it was a great run. I think all of us "run flat" guys were pushing the limit =-) I think my next purchase will be some new tires! BTW. MaxMini and I took Decker Cyn back to the valley and that was a great road. MaxMini had a little mishap with a errant rock on the way home..wich resulted in a dented rim and blown tire...he called AAA and they sent a flatbed out to pick 'em up. It wounld be a run without something going wrong right? Guess he'll be gettin new rims sooner than he thought. |

Offline | tow job Well one rim down and 3 to go Was a good learning experience tho as I can at least pas s on a good tip if you need to get towed. Flatbeds were at a primium today and i had a regular truck tow me out using dollies for the rear wheels . It worked like a charm and my car is about as low as you can get so I did have some concern there. Thankfully about three weeks ago i upped my AAA membership to the " plus " program which increases my tow range from 7 to 100 miles or i would have been looking at about a 250 for towing alone. My plan is to replace the rimm as soon as I can and then put the set up for sale which i planned to do in any event. It was fun running with you guys even with the little misshap. I guess that is what i get for getting off so easy with my off road excursion at Willow Springs last month. Look forward to the next one Randy |

| TEAM MIGHTY MINIZ | Keede: Maybe it's a sign you're a natural born rally driver! With regards to the run-flats, I donno. I was pretty satisfied with their performance. Since I've only owned my MINI for about a month now, I appreciate that their slightly reduced grip really lets me play with oversteer and understeer conditions despite slightly reduced speeds, and they clearly communicate impending loss of grip (*howwwll!*). I didn't get a chance to check on all of the MINIs, but one thing I noticed is that I think I was the only person running the 17" Dunlop SP 9000 DSST from the factory. Maybe they're better than the Pirelli euphori@s. The Dunlops impressed the hell out of me when I drove up PCH in the rain on my way up to San Francisco, too. It's a shame Randy bent a wheel. Maybe he'll go for those Volks we were talking about. OctaneGuy: How 'bout a teaser?! =D That was definitely the most fun I've had in my MINI yet, and I look forward to more runs with you guys in the future! |

Offline | I have the Goodyears, but I believe the fellow in the red Mini had the Pirelli runflats. I too am looking forward to the purchase of new tires which will be more comfortable, have more grip, and do better in the rain than what I'm running now! ![]() See you guys next time, you can count on me to bring up the rear, hehe ![]() P.S. Sorry you ran into some trouble, MAXMINI. KDOG: Here's a link to the digital tire pressure gauge I have. http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/airgauges/air1.jsp After shipping it comes out to like $29.95, something like that. |

Offline | Hey- Great to meet all of you yesterday- I had a great time. It was really fun to try out my new sway bar and short shift. Thanks to KDog for organizing and picking a cool route- Like most of you I think I'm ready to upgrade my runflats as soon as funds allow. Oh and I forgot to ask- anybody know of any auto-x events coming up in the area?- now that would be a good time ![]() See you all next time- -S |

Offline | Hi Zeede- Sorry for the delay. I was looking all over NAM for this thread!!! Whoops. I looked at the footage of your little off road adventure and unfortunately for me, but fortunately for you, your offroading was into the side of the mountain and not off the cliff! My camera was on the cliff side (left side), so as I came around the turn, all I saw was you pulling back onto the road. I had a blast. Half of that run I'd done before, but the last half was new to me. At one point, as I was drifting, my rear swung out which was completely unexpected. Not sure what caused it. You can't tell from the video, but I sure as heck felt it in my stomach! |

Offline | KDog, Thanks for organizing this run. I had a blast. My run flats were squealing like mad as you'll see in the video. I'm actually making this into a DVD, and I'm going to make it available to the 7 other MINI's at my cost which is $5+ postage (Or you can pick it up or meet somewhere and not pay postage). $6.50 for DVD and postage will cover it. This price is ONLY for the guys I drove with (drivers/navigators as well). For anyone else, it'll likely be around $20 including shipping. In case you haven't seen my other DVD's I've made, which you likely haven't, since the last I made was for my club (SCMM), everybody agreed it was worth many times that even from the packaging alone. I'm going to make turn this run into a combo drive + show details on how to put together one of these camera rigs I did for cheap, where to buy the materials, and some of the things I learned if you want to do it yourself. Right now I've got about 40 minutes of edited video, and it's pretty darn cool. Since my own server is bandwidth challenged for video, I have a friend on NAM that has been hosting them, and so if I'm lucky, he may be able to get it posted by tonight. re: MaxMINI Aw man, I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm glad you're ok! Richard |

Offline | I've got almost 11,000 miles in 4 months (July 03 Build, picked up September) and I've heard I probably have another 9K miles if I 'm lucky! That'll mean I'll be off run flats in about another 3 months! re: Teaser It's coming!!!! |

Offline | KDog, Please let me know when you guys have another run, and I'll be there! I didn't realize all of you were here on MINI2. I was telling you I would post to NAM instead cause I thought that's where this thread originated. Sooooo, when the videos get posted, I'll post them here so you don't have to run over to NAM just to see them. Thanks again! Richard |
