Sunday Feb 8 - Village Coffee Roaster G2G + Canyon Run
So who's not going to Vegas? Astra and I will be at Village Coffee Roaster at 10 am on Sunday. This'll be the third weekend in a row, so let's keep it rolling!
The directions to get there are as follows:
Take the 101 North if you're coming from Los Angeles. Exit Mulholland Dr, turn left and drive over the freeway overpass. Once you crest the overpass, you'll see a shopping center to your immediate left. Look for MINIs and other fine machines in the parking lot!
Last weekend we had a Ferrari F355 Spyder fly with us through the canyons. There've been Subarus there both weekends, and some BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsches. Occasionally there'll be some domestic representation, but I doubt they go to the canyons. They're more than welcome to, so long as they use the turnouts!
Can't come this Sunday? Come next Sunday... each meet is fun and unique. The first one even had Scions Show up!
It's a good and friendly community of various rides and those who drive them.
Canyon Runs are "at your own risk", as always. There's always a good group of risk takers ready to roll!
Yerba Buena Rd is HIGHLY recommended. Beware of slightly reduced grip and dirt/stones towards the beginning of the run (if starting at Mulholland/Little Sycamore). The pavement is a little bit rough through this section, but not frighteningly so once you get accustomed to it. The turns are very tight, so speeds stay low anyhow. It smooths out about halfway through and has lots of really cool camber variations through some nice, tight turns. A few of them have a cool "corkscrew"-style banking that drops you smoothly into the curve. Keep an eye out for negative camber stuff so you can scrub off speed early. It's easy to imagine this road covered in snow with WRC cars riding the dips and hopping the crests! Much fun to be had.
I think that was the most fun I have ever had at 35mph....
and what about the Ferrari parade!!!!

Yeah! That was amazing. 40-50 Ferraris, Enzo and F50 leading the way! Lots of other choice sports cars, too. I remember spotting a couple of Murcielagos, some really cool 911s, and one car that I still can't name. It was an aggressive looking car reminiscent of a racing Elise, but larger. It had round headlamps and looked to have quite the aerodynamic setup. Say, I wonder how the Gallardo would hang through the canyons.
